I release all big pike I catch so I won't use a gaff to land them, hand bombing takes a bit a of practice but can be easily mastered.

im glad you release the big pike... seems everyone wants them on the wall... atleast eat it if your bringing em home

I never us a gaff either. I do the behind the neck grab on most of the pike
