Man its tough watching those eyes go back down the hole I had to see that happen way too many times today. Raining pretty good out at 7ish Gonna need some cold maybe Wednesday back at it..

Any working shoves/cracks that you have to cross to get out to the fish?

Thanks. Between ice dams, roof leaks, and family functions I haven't been on Erie yet this year. Old man has been itching to go but the walk outta sturgeon would have been really tough for him earlier in the season. Maybe this weekend.

I'm planning on going out of Sturgeon Point Tuesday morning.  I hear and see guys are doing well finally!!  Is it walkable to where the guys are fishing??  I don't have a machine but plan on walking out as long as it isn't a 5 mile walk.
How deep is everyone fishing???  Any info is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

Eric I would go out of the catt the walk is far less to get to perch grounds. The slush on Saturday was 6" to 12" in many spots. I caught many fish fishing out of the catt after fishing st pt Saturday and seeing none. we lsft st pt at noon and had a limit at the catt before dark.

I am fully aware that no one likes to give reports as to safety of ice conditions because it's always changing. Is there anyone planning on going out on wed and if so out of where. Is one port seems safer than the rest as far as ice thickness on lake plus ice thickness at launch site. I am trying to debate whether to give it one more go before the gear gets retired for the year.
Work is for people that don't know how to fish!

We'll be safe out there good luck to all

Just in case, the Catt, is the Cattaraugus Creek.
I'm assuming you mean Sturgeon Point when you typed STP.
If so, about 12 miles west of Sturgeon Point.
Look for exit 58 off the NYS Thruway.

Also, be careful heading out on ice off the Catt.
Unlike Sturgeon Point, the Catt flows water into the lake.
The ice around it will be getting unsafe.
If you don't know where to get on the lake around the Catt safely, this is NOT a good time to try your luck.

Be safe.

I know the fishing gets good right now on last ice... BUT, this is when guys can really get jammed up and die! Once we get warm weather like we've had, (personally) I retire my gear and am grateful to be able to look forward to another ice season..

Time is now to make plans for Ohio fishing out of Port Clinton. The ice will flowing east to our end for a couple months but they slay the walleye and perch down there. No season closure and a nuclear power plant to warm things up for the walleyes.
You can not take too many perch, unless you can not clean them, give them to your friends and neighbors to clean and cook. The more perch you take, the faster and bigger the rest  will grow. The walleyes and bass will survive from fry to fingerlings.

jimski, walleye do go out of season in ohio same as ny but they come back in season sooner, think april 1st & limit cut in half till 1st saturday in may. i've got a friend at work son lives in port clinton they hammer walleye through the ice there. 4 guys in 1 day ,33 walleye biggest one just over 12 lbs.
i've fished down in conneaut & ashtabula in the summer for walleye when we had slow years here . snug harbor bait shop has an updated fish report every day ,440-593-3755. jack is guys name

Nice catch Big Fish!  We've been going to Chautauqua.  Perch aren't as big there, but still decent sized.  We're up to 980 (three weekends, a group of us).  All 8-9 inches.

Oh ok must've changed that limit & season on walleye in Ohio since I've been down there . Maybe when the state changed their license  system to similar to NY 's printed  license. Used to be just a cash register receipt u signed . I see limit on perch still 30 per day.
Good luck everyone , hope to get out 1 more time this wknd. Hope the sheriffs let us out off the catt .

Anyone planning on fishing the Catt tomorrow? I'm going to attpt it from the west side of the breakwall, walking. Going to avoid sunset bay altogether. Should be there by 7. If anyone wants to go, let me know.

I`d love to try to (walking), but tied up this week during the day. Who knows by the weekend though? It`s snowing right now in Hamburg, and cold nights all week. Chautauqua should be good thicker ice than Erie, and 100% frozen, doesn`t move around.
