Cold snap auger cover + magnets?

I’ve needed to replace the band on my cold snap auger cover on my Nils 6” for 2 years now (always forget), and now I’m thinking of just using some rare earth magnets instead. I’ve seen some pictures of that mod, but cannot locate. Anyone do this?

Also thinking about adding some magnets to a bait puck…..see if it will hold the bait puck in place enough to open/close with one hand.

Replacement bands are cheap. Why not just do magnets with the original cover
