I think it will be dec 20 on the T Channel and it will be clear ice and you can watch them swim under the hole as you nail em.

I allways liked that about the chain. Most places you can see em no matter the clear ice.

tonight 18 tomorrow night 19 friday night low of 12. my duck boat will be breaking ice saturday morning for sure if i can get the boat launched. i run the boat until about 2-3 inches of ice so i will report back. who knows i may even be hunting on the ice sunday if it works out that way. as of now due to wind the whole chain is still wide open. that said the forecast next week is back in the 40s calling for rain.

I think we need to collectively wish for warm weather. Kind of like looking away from your rod while its in the hole. SSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH HHHH..............

On the kankakee river back waters duck hunting. 3/4" ice to bad it will be gone this week

Had to break the ice an hour later

my guess is december 11th. at least until 11 am. there was anywhere between 0-2" of ice on fox lake. that said it was quite easily possible to have fished in some channels or protected areas this morning. once the sun came out it got ugly fast.

I was able to walk out about 5 feet from shore on a small pond in Schaumburg yesterday... Wont be sitting and fishing for a bit though...Stay away snow and rain! Good luck to you all this season.

The next 7 to 10 days doesn't look good at all for building soild safe ice. I wonder what happen to that cold December that was predicted ?

I get out there, its only 3 miles from the house. It seems hit and miss. Some days I find them some I dont.

Just have faith its coming quick. The base layer is down and it wont be long now. 5 day looks bad but then turns cold again.

I think last year was a bit abnormal for ice cover. I track weather for pest reports and last December really got cold early and pretty much stayed that way, too bad every December isn't that way. The average temperature for December 2010 was 4.9 degrees below the norm. As far as I'm concerned the cold can come anytime and the big snows can stay away. Just give us enough for cover and that will be good.

I just looked at 30 day forecast on weather 360 and there are only a couple days that the highs are below 30 and no days that the low is below 10 most are above 15 may be a long wait til ice
