pa state park winter report from 8:30 this morning says only 1in with open areas

I have seen that state park ice thickness report say no ice when i have been fishing for few days. Your best bet would be to read around on here for some reports on thickness they cnat post on there that any area of the lake is safe because everybody would go everywhere on it and someone may get on some thin ice.

as of yesterday morning, Ive got reports of 2-4"...so I think by saturday we will be good...Its on average 10 degrees colder there than where I live.

Jean lake report has been popping every day up to today... Not a peep...

I may drive up tom and check it out...not sure about fishin it though...alot of ice reports from this area are comin in and the news isnt good...3-4" but deteriorating.. $:-\$

If its a no-go, Ill hike some trails while Im there..I will bring my gear just in case

im beginning to wonder if this will have safe ice by the time of the RESCHEDULED tournament for sunday the 15th, would like to go up and prefish on saturday

Thats exactly what I did last weekend...only I went up to hike and checking the lack of ice was secondary

Where is this Lake Gean that ya'll are speaking about. Sounds like there might be some ice, and would like to do some ice fishing.

Its actually mispelled...Its LAKE JEAN....ricketts glen state park, high atop Red Rock Mountain on Rt487. Its the highest PUBLIC lake in NEPA elev 2222'...usually first to freeze, but even the ice there is sketchy this year.

would love to go out before next wk... I'll be in upstate next wknd for a little ice fishing.

reb i thought it was higher in elevation then that..... oh well its still the highest public lake in pa.

No, its 2222' on US Geological survey topo maps....you may be thinkin of Red Rock Mountain itself, which is 2449' on fire tower road.
