This might be a stupid question.....but

Do you think the Rochester "Fast Ferry" will have any effect on the early ice at Braddock's Bay this year?   I have heard that the lake can be very calm, and when the ferry goes by miles off shore, a few minutes later big waves hit.   That, in my mind, might break up the early ice.  Any thoughts?

just my .02 cents but there may be a more knowledgable person for this out there!

i was there fishing over the weekend and saw the ferry going across to canada. the bay was dead calm, it remained dead calm for the whole time i was there!
maybe if there was a wind already blowing out of the north, it may carry the waves into shore!
thats just my experience!

Thanks Oak for the info.....I was just thinking it would stink if we are out there at first ice and the Ferry goes by and 5 minutes later the 4 inches of safe ice breaks up.....

Wouldn't make me thank the last mayor when I get a soaker!!!

Could be great spot to fish......make sure you mark it on your GPS!  Just think, the most expensive man-made fish attractor in the world right here in Rochester!!!

The fast ferry will not affect the icefishing on Braddocks bay.  I fished out on the lake for trout and salmon all summer.  The ferry only made a large wake when you were very close to it.  Also When I was training my dog on the beach, it would go by and the wake would be broken up before it hit the shore.
