Good morning everyone!

A windy cooler morning on tap. There is mist in the air with rain guessed for in the afternoon.

Eddie....I'll have a better idea when I return for the Halloween hunt if the big one is still around or not. I plan to spend as long as it takes to round something up. I have 20 days in November to hang out.

WW.....good luck getting all the winter prep taken care of.

WW...good luck with the mowing, when does Mr. WW head back yo the woods?

TT.....glad the tree guy turned out to be a good one. Good luck with the new blind.

Dave.....i caught this b-turd last night trying to get into my cinnamon apple toaster strudel  :%$#!:

Hope you all have a good day.

Stay safe and healthy

Meeces do fly they just get a little help.
Stuff doesn't last long with the ravens around.
The mouse lasted the whole night but when it got light out it mysteriously disappeared.

Good job Marv. Little bastages!!!!

Eddie
Back in the '80's I went on vacation in Barbados and hooked up with some locals while there.
One night we went to eat and party on Baxter's Road in Bridgetown. It's a local spot with tons of restaurants and street food vendors.
We ended up at the establishment of one of my local friends buddies.
We got to sit at a big table in the kitchen. If you're squeamish you really don't want to do this as you'll never eat in a third world eatery ever again.   :roflmao:
Any who, onto the rest of the story. There was 6-8 of us sitting around the table eating local dishes and drinking large quantities of rum when we decided to have a little cockroach and mouse killing spree.
Man, by the time we got wore out and the numbers of critters had been severely reduced 1/2 the table was covered with corpses!!!
T'was a fun night!!!  ;D

Good evening everyone!

Good story Dave  :roflmao:

The rain moved in and we moved out. I had to come back home tomorrow night anyway so not a big deal.

Hope everyone has a good night!

Good evening a warm up today near seventy five during midday hours. gasoline prices rising locally now averaging $3.25/gal. of 87 octane.
Eddie good to hear homeland security is happy with the work done to this point in time. Yes we are starting to have problems getting delivery of some products mostly paper goods. I suggest everyone to start their Christmas shopping early and not wait until "Black Friday" this year. Who knows what items will be limited or how long things will take to ship.
Ice wanderer may you have knocked off an item on the outside do before Winter list today. Do you have plans to make your annual hunting trip to Maine this year with your buddies.
Tomturkey best to you with this seasons deer hunting.
Wallyworld I agree about bagging leaves one thing i don't miss since selling the house. How did the lawn mowing go may you not have gotten the mower stuck in soft ground. Best to Mr. WW with his deer hunting.
Whopper Stopper glad you got the mouse before it enjoyed your toaster strudel . Best to you and your brother if heading out tomorrow morning.  may your brother's trip to texas be problem free and he enjoy his time in the lone star state.
Old Goat  as long as you got to the wedding before it started i guess everything worked out on the trip to Minneapolis.
Hunts2long nice day to clean your deck i hope majority of leaves have fallen so you do not have to repeat the job. may you see more activity next time out with the muzzle loader.
Drifter interesting story I've had to deal with a few mice infestations at the store over the years. Inside the building we are limited to glue boards and live catch traps. Outside the pest control company can use bait boxes.

Stay safe and healthy. best to all fishing and hunting.

Interesting reads, as I browse through the thread, you morbid coffee drinkers sure are cruel to those poor critters... but I love it  :roflmao:  :roflmao:

Now that I have a pickup to drive back decided to load up the washer and dryer from my old house, and of course spotted some things that I thought that had already been moved, and you. Might know nearly a full pickup   OMG have prices on new appliances sure have gone up.  Guess I have been living a sheltered life.

Good Morning Everyone,
Partly cloudy skies and 50* here on the Hill this am, high of 67. Looks like some cooler weather will moving in this weekend.

Steve…thanks for the heads up on the paper products, will pass that on.   Gas jumped another $.04 where I stop, $3.49 yesterday.  :-\
Marv…sorry your trip ended a little sooner than planned, hope round 2 goes better.  Thanks for letting us tag along though, will be looking forward to your November adventure! Nice job with the trapping!  ;D
Dave…just never know what might take place with a belly full of rum, just scratched Barbados off the to do list!  :roflmao:
H2…better luck this morning if you’re heading out, another nice day coming!
OG…thank you, will keep an eye out for the package!
Wally…still leaning on retirement as planned, but…if they happen to open up our old shop again, I might reconsider hanging on for a little longer. Hope Mr.WW is seeing some deer, best of luck to him today!      Thought of you and your bakery last night after trying out a new recipe with the apple butter I made…look up apple strudel cinnamon bread…it turned out amazing for greenhorn like me.  ;D
Tom…yes, those bond beam are different. When we build large block buildings, we often use them at specific heights like the beginning of each floor going up. Ive been on several prison projects, but this job is the first one I’ve ever seen using them every single course…needless to say, there’s no way anyone could get through these walls.
Jeff…hope you got everything accomplished you were hoping to yesterday, beautiful day to be outside!

Started on our last wall yesterday, thinking next week we should be finished up. Have been working with the apprentice quite a bit and he’s been improving each day. Still has some things to overcome, the biggest being his confidence, but we’re working on that.
Cawfee’s on…apple strudel cinnamon bread under the dome!   ;D
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Morning Bud….see you posted as I pecked away!

Morning all,

IFF.....good thing you had the truck to fill up with "forgotten" things

Eddie....checked out that recipe, looks delicious

MrC....paper products and juices (shelf stable) seem to be mostly missing in the store I frequent

WS.....sorry Mother Nature shortened your trip  :(  best of luck to MrsWS today  ;)

Drifter......great story, think I'll pass on that trip

H2L....better luck next outing  ;)2

IW.....some beautiful weather to get outside work knocked off the list

Got the lawn/leaves taken care of yesterday, it sure ain't pretty with all the mud lines but it's done  managed to avoid getting stuck (barely)  :flex: with no frost/cold temps in sight the mowing chore will be continuing for the foreseeable future  ::)

Have a good day. Stay safe, stay healthy,

Good morning currently in the lower fifties outside heading to middle seventies for day's high temperature. I just hope with some items becoming limited in supermarkets we do not see panic buying or people purchasing large amounts of an item to hopefully sell for a big profit at a future date. If the availablity of certain products stays limited for an extended time period we may once again see store placing limits on how much of any one item a person may purchase. This is for my fellow New Yorkers friendly reminder early voting for this November's election starts this Monday and runs until Oct.30Th or 31ST. Check your local news sources or county election boards for lists of polling places and times they are open if would like to vote early. Also remember to look at back side of the ballot several proposals for changes to the states constitution up for a vote.
IFF may you have a safe trip to WI. guess it will be a good test to see how the new pickup handles with a loaded bed and how much the added weight effects your miles per gallon of gas.
Eddie glad the apple strudel bread turned out good. May the contractor have more work lined up for when you complete this project. Hopefully you will hear soon if the work at state capital will start up again and on what date.
Wallyworld good to read you got the yard work done and did not get your mower stuck. I agree if the weather stays warmer folks will be cutting grass into November.
Whopper Stopper may your wife receive good news from the eye surgeon today. Best to you with tomorrow's doctors visit.

Everyone have a good Thursday I will check back this evening to see who all has posted today. best to all fishing and hunting be safe on the water and in the woods and fields.

Caught another interloper in my kitchen last night.
I guess the first one had a friend.
Gonna have to leave the traps out for a while I think.
First time in the 15 years I've lived here that I've had mouse issues.   >:(

Up on the mountain we had mouse problems in the camper this is the first year since I sealed up a couple holes the manufacturer forgot to spray foam the year we bought it a few years ago, but did remove some to fix the broken peuce where the leaf spring attaches to the frame but that is all sealed up ready for next week with snow and cold I figure the varmits will be looking for warm and food must be the year with the bears and all. Have a safe almost end of the week have a good one everyone

Good morning everyone

28 frosty degrees this morning.

The computer is is on the fritz this morning, so try #3 will be short.

My wife had a good appointment with the surgeon yesterday. Her vision concerns were addressed and explained as just needing more time. The blood clot behind her pupil is the culprit and he assured her is will slowly dissolve given a month or two.

Yesterday was spent getting all the leaves blown off the yard. From the looks of it I will have another batch or two once hunting is over.

Hope you all have a good day  Stay safe and keep healthy.

                Good morning Marv, OG, ER's,
                            It's a balmy 54* here on my hill. ::)
Marv........I'm glad that Jo's problem has been explained, I hope the clot dissolves faster than what the Dr. said.
H2l..........I've been hearing that from everyone, nothing is moving in the woods, it's to warm.
Eddie.......If the old job at the capital reopens, how much longer would you work? ???
Dave........First it was bears, now the mice are invading. :%$#!: I heard one chewing on something up in my loft yesterday
so I set a trap. :flex:
Wally........Good luck to Mr. WW at camp, enjoy the quiet time.
Steve.......I haven't seen any empty spaces on the shelves here....YET  I was going to Maine on our hunting trip but
since the transmission problems and the expense, I'm going to have to forfeit the trip this year.
Old age must have hit me recently, I've been sleeping longer than in the past, or maybe I've been doing to much during the day
                  and just tire myself out.
Looks like leaves and stacking some firewood is on the planner today.
I hope everyone has a good Friday either at work otr out. Stay Safe and Healthy.

54* and we had some rain overnight.
WW, looking at next week and they have rain or showers everyday. This better end before it gets cold or we will all be snow-bound.
Still haven't seen a deer. Only going out in the mornings as it gets up to close to 70* in the PM. Didn't go out this morning. Went a got my booster shot and flu shot yesterday, have a head ache this morning. Every hunter in the area must have needed an orange hat, no one has any in stock, new laws.
Hope everyone has a good Friday and be well...h2l

Need some of those at the cabin to get the numbers in check.
Dang things are all over the place. Not inside though.
Have been plugging up access points into the basement ceiling as they have been getting into the floor and making homes in the floor insulation.

We make our own mouse traps- a dowel, coat hanger, or other spindle, a can the right size for a spool in the middle, and put it over a bucket with a couple inches of water. Put a ramp to allow them to get to the can, and smear peanut butter on the can. Nasty mouse soup when you return, but it keeps catching.

Afternoon all, 49° and dropping here, supposed to be down around 38 by tomorrow morning.

Decided to go old school last week. Dumped my Ruger 300 Blackout and picked up a Cimarron 1873 short rifle repro the other day. Just put my first 50 rounds through it this afternoon, and love it so far. Now that I have some brass emptied, I'll be fiddling around with loads for it this weekend.
