looking to plan a trip as soon as i can and was wondering if there is any ice up that way?

i would like to get on some early ice on bitter but if i had to go to a small lake that would be fine too just looking for some early ice walleyes.

Got a trip planned for mid January for this area.  What jigs and lures should a guy have to target pearch and walleyes on the lakes in this area?

Hey Griz, try calling the Sportsmans Cove for info (Doug). I'm itchy too, and really serious about going this coming wk/end. If you've not got a partner, let me know, right now it's my son and I, with only one other prospect??

The absolute best lure I have found is the Richard Jig. Jammin Jigs sells them at $1 apiece.

Ive Tried fishing with these before.  My problem is that the fish try to swallow the whole thing but often times just end up spitting the whole thing back out.  Must be too big or something.  But thanks for the advice anyway. :P

Honestly, about anything you tie on will work just fine here. I have yet to find a lure that I hated but if you PM me I will reveal the holy grail that I consider the best all-around lure for this area.

Was thinking about coming up to bitter tomarrow.  Are the perch or walleye biting. And on what and where. And advice. Woule be greatly appreciated.      Ice thickness?

I would call sportsmans cove, not sure how much ice is on bitter as of yesterdays report from up there.  The snow did a number on most lakes, you may find some small sloughs froze solid.

I am planning on heading that way towards the end of the month. The wife is comming along and she likes to sight fish. Is there any good sight fishing in the area? I've never been there before, but I figured I better keep her happy and give it a try while we are there. If mamma's happy, we're all happy!

5-6 inches on Bitter in most places close to shore today.

Didnt venture out too far, just enough to catch some eyes and perch.  Most of the snow has blown off, I would say there is 4-5 inches on the lake at most.  The wind with the snow kept the open water open until sunday night when it got calm and froze everything hard.  -17 on Monday morning - so it froze good and is still making good ice. 

I am sure you will see ATV's on the ice this weekend (not mine though, I have a big pair, but they arent BRASS!!).

Southeast boat landing, walked out to the islands, in between the islands and the shore. 

Minnow heads was the key for me.

I plan on heading up there Friday afternoon and fishing a different part of Bitter. Was there any particular color that seemed to work better?

i have herd of a fence that gos into the water and that people catch lots right where the fence ends   anybody know anything about this?     and what were u catching and how deep were you           thanks for your info

There is a fence that runs north into the lake from the south.  If you walk out from the boat landing and head straight west, you will see it about a quarter to half mile out there. 

I used brighter colors - chartruse.

Conditions were right to put a little more on, but I can't say how much.  Wheeler would be a little iffy yet in my opinion.

went to lynn lake today by the private boat ramp and didnt mark a thing, then was heading down to the sate ramp at bitter but went into the ditch at the curves a couple miles away. Got out and ended up fishing by the new resort caught a few perch kept 3, they were few and far between fished 20-26ft of water. Caught more walleyes then perch but all were small fished from noon to sunset. There was a large number of guys out there and alot of wheelers out  but they were not going all over yet just to a couple areas.

the sportsmans cove report says 6ft but we caught them in 20-26 none of the action was too fast
