Pfluger Trion/non-ice reel prep
« on: Nov 10, 2017, 08:42 AM »
I picked up a couple of Pfluger Trions to use out on the ice this winter with a DIY hookset/tip up device. Average temps for the area we're going to are around 0°.  What do I need to do to ensure the Trions work well?  I assume some different lubrication is necessary.

Dave Genz recommended using boiling water to washout the old grease ..dry ...then grease the reel with some lube recommended for ice fishing. Hot Sauce grease comes to mind.
