Out of Lewis today. hit east side of it, started in 27, not a single mark, came in to 13, 15, one mark not a touch. Went to west side of it 24 ft, waiting for the 5pm rush , Had over a dozen come in, slow follows up, 6 ft off bottom max. swapped raps, out, went smaller, went to glow spoon. Then tried a minnow on a ball jig. Still couldn't get them to kiss anything. But was a ton of fun watching them on panoptix, they were busy but smart enough to stay away.

Last weekend I had the same problem and actually went with my bigger raps and was getting em. Red and silver. Biggest I had. #7 maybe?

That happens a lot. Everyone tries downsizing but a lot of times upsizing is the ticket.

Went out yesterday from 2-6pm...drag ou wasn’t Too bad. No perch takers but saw plenty of jumbos on the camera. Ended up with 5 eyes... 2 shorts that went back and 3 nice ones for the limit . Lots of lookers on the screen all afternoon but it was a challenge to get them to commit.

I always went bigger because I felt that the jig dropped faster and that is what trigger them...h2l

I also upsized from a #5 rap to a #7 rap this past week and it definitely helped.

Interesting.  I had 2 holes one with either a #5 jigging rap or small jig and minnow and in the other hole a small Caty jig with spikes on it.  They took the Caty jig.  Next time, I will try a larger size.

I up sized from a #5 to a #7 for the Perch the other day. I did get a couple on it but they seemed more responsive to the #5. What worked for me was to fish higher in the water column 2 to 3 ft. Off the bottom and not waste my time with the ones glued to the bottom.

Hope nobody was out on the ice tonight when this wind started ripping.. if anyone got caught in it I hope you made it home safe..

I've been on Oneida on days with 15mph wind and days when there was supposed to be no wind/calm and somehow the breeze just cuts right thru ya on the big lake!

Originally wanted to fish tomorrow but for that reason alone I’m coming Wednesday instead. Plan on fishing a few days. Looking forward to it. Most likely my last trip on the ice this season. It’s always bittersweet to see it end.....

Headed out around noon today. Wind was still whipping pretty good. Only a few guys out that I could see. Found some perch but only managed one lol. Missed a few and a bunch of lookers. Had a nice flurry of eyes before dark and put 8 keepers on the ice in 10 minutes. It was chaotic for a few minutes lol. Great sunset tonight too.
