Humminbird Helix 5 DI GPS

Others may have posted about this but I just got into ice fishing and have always had this fish finder on my boat.

I started reading up on how to convert it to a really nice portable set up. To the tune of about 100 bucks anybody can do this. All you need is the ice transducer and power cable for your particular model, a 12v battery, and a toolbox. I’m sure there are other makes and models that would work as well.

And if you’re looking to save more money the transducer and power cable from your boat can be jerry rigged so they’ll do the trick. It’s just more work taking them off the boat every fall and installing them again in the spring.

This is the exact route that I went.  I wanted a fish finder for my kayak but also something that I could bring on the ice.  I purchased the iceducer, got a ram mount, an extra battery and can move it from the kayak to the old lowrance ice travel pack that I had laying around in minutes.
westernmas on the finder
