Compared with the 996 . Also seems the 8.0 battery is the real game changer

I bought this drill a couple weeks ago, so far it drills great through wood and aluminum!

I'll put it on an 8" Mora this coming fall.

Looking forward to a review ..do you have the 8ah battery or did you just get the bare tool. Looking at the video it seems the larger capacity is the real ticket to the performance ..similar to the Ridgid Octane drill.

I got it in a kit with the 8ah battery plus the 887 impact driver and 2ah battery for $299.

None of the power detect tools are available as a bare tool yet, only in a kit with 8ah battery... Which makes sense because the 8ah battery is required to get full power.

I've read hearsay that the 6ah 20v, 9 ah flexvolt, and 12ah flexvolt offer the additional power as well, but nothing confirmed yet. Basically any Dewalt battery with the newer 21700 cells. No idea if that's true or not.

What's the torque for the DeWALT DCD 998?

I believe an IS member stated 100 UWO is equal to 100 in lbs of torque roughly .

UWO is not a measure of torque and there is no conversation as they are different units of measure.

DeWalt is silly and doesn't publish torque specs in the US. They may publish it overseas when the DCD998 is released there.

FWIW there is no standardized method of quantifying torque between different manufacturers. We're basically buying into marketing garbage by going off the torque specs they are publishing.

Kobalt is the latest brand to release a 1200 in-lb drill recently!
