What excites you the most when icefishing

Night before the first trip.  Wake up 9 times before the alarm goes off.  Give in and get up on the 10th time, even tho its only 3:30.  Get to the lake on a calm morning and realize there won't be anyone around for at least a few hours.  Drilling 75 holes in the apparent deadsea - only to have the flasher light up like the Vegas Strip on the 76th.  Watching a flag pop or a bobber slowly sink away.  Watching an eye put the dorsal up and move TOWARD the jig - after having 7 of them swim away like you called them a dirty name.  A few of my favorite things.

What excites me most is when I hear bells. I've got a tiny bobber and bell attached to the tip of my deadsticks. they are all close enough to hear when I get a hit.  oh man, I can't tell you how exciting it is to not hear anything for quite a while, then all of a sudden.... dinner bell goes off!!!!

For me it's seeing a flag go up.  The excitement of wondering what kind of fish you're standing on top of.  Could be a little perch, could be a 40+ pike.

The most??/ hard to pin it on one item...

1. A flag pop sure gets the adrenaline going when it is on a 12" bait....
2. The bottom of the lake under my hole covered with Jumbo Moocho Jalopy Perch is pretty cool..
3. First ice and being alone an hour before light in one of my favorite spots is close to tops...

I know exactly what yall are talking about when you see the fish rising to your bait on the vex. I also love the sound of a tip-up going off, with a big 'ol walleye on the other end

1.  watching one of my boy's spring bobbers go down.  I always get too excited and they miss the first fish or two.  always takes a while before I calm down.

2.  dropping the marcum ducer into that first hole

3.  seeing fish on the marcum for the first time

4.  watching the marcum light up and them watching my spring bobber go down

Hanging out with Friends & Family

Seeing Flags going up one right after another, especially if it's yours

Watching your line spin off your reel and wondering how big is it going be

Sitting back in your chair drinking coffee and catching a few rays out on the ice

Watching my kids pull out a fish.

when your fighting a fish and rather than it just coming up throuhgt the hole it makes a pass in front of it, when you see that flash before it dives back down i always get psyched up......

Yup, this was going to be mine also. Nothing like knowing you have a big pike or laker on, and then getting that first glimpse of it to confirm what and how large.

Another thing is just a little thing but, when that spring bobber starts to just barely move and you set the hook and feel the weight of the fish.

For me, by far is going for evening walleye during first nice. The cracking and popping of the ice just signals another season underway.

Just getting out of the rat race of work and the commute / traffic.....nice quiet lake, nestled in my Trap Pro with the sound of a Vexilar in the background, cup of coffee steaming in the cold air, and that first gill rising from the bottom as a green line on the Vex, turning to amber/orange and then red...you know the rest !!  Can't wait for 1st ice in southeast Wisconsin.  Be safe folks and enjoy the greatest sport this season.

what excites me the most is while scanning your layout of tip-ups out of your shanty window and you see a flag go up right before your eyes and make a dash to the tip-up, while your heading to the tip-up you can hear the spool on the tip-up screaming out line.then setting the hook and bringing your catch to the hole and you see an increadable looking fish swim by the hole. ah, come on ice! i can"t take it any more , the anticipation is killing me!!!!!!!
