Well as of yesterday it will be Deer Meat, eggs, sausage, homefries, drinks.
If fishing was work I'd never be sick!

when we go out we are usually out there a couple hours before daylight until 1 or 2 in the morning so we usually bring jerky, coffee, burgers, stew, pepsi, and some ingredients to make some beer batter if we catch eater sized perch. but when we are to lazy to pack a bunch of food up the main lakes we fish are right close to A&W, KFC, Mr.Sub, and Dairy Queen. Who ever doesnt buy bait has to drive their sled to town and buy food, i buy the bait cause i only spend about $20 on bait a weekend compared to the $60 of food  ;D

A good old fashioned grilled cheese cooked over the lantern.  Nothing better than some warm food when you are out on the ice.  All you hunters are making me hungry with all this deer, elk and caribou talk. ;)

I go ice fishing to fish, not eat. I don't think I've ever taken food except a couple of times it was more of a party than a fishing excursion.

Being from Wisconsin it's brats in beer and sourkraut

Now there is an idea, beer brats and kraut, never thoght of it. Will try it this year. I thought that was what ice fishing was all about getting a group of buddies (maybe a few wives in case we run outa bait, beer or food) getting up early on saturday morning heading out to the lake, and staying all day. When the fishing gets slow crack a couple of beers and turn on some tunes and EAT. If it's too cold or windy hit the resturant on the lake as my last post said.

I am over 3/4 German, and absolutely cannot stand sauer kraut. My mom made it all the time when I was growing up, but I would eat the brats shed cook in it, but I'd skip the kraut

Beer is a must. We will also cook pizza rolls on top of the heater. Don't knock it until you try it. They cook faster than in a microwave and much more thorough.

Bottled moose stew with soda crackers, the Newfie way!  I only had this once with my Newfie buddy and it was sooo good!  Most the time now it's chips, a few drinks, maybe a granola bar.  We're usually limited on our two lake trout before noon, catch and release for awhile or with the big guys.  Tend to go to a bar on the way home and grab a beer and a burger.

Easy stuff to munch on smoked goose breast, goose and deer hot sticks, cheese, smoked fish, homemade deer pepperoni, some kind of good cracker and hot mustard. I love to cook on the ice but it can take up some good fishing time,so all the major stuff is cooked ahead and heated on the ice deer chili ,deer stew, deer back straps, goose in gravy,13 bean soup with ham, deer sausage, deer burgers.

i don't eat much at all when i'm hunting or fishing.i never eat breakfast.
seems like when i put something in, something wants to come out.
a candy bar or two, cheese and crackers maybe, just lght snacks.
of course beer has a lot of calories.

We usually do brats and burgers on the grill. We have made a pizza on a Smokey Joe (it is awesome) and occasionally chili. There are always venison hot sticks as well.

I like getting to my spot bright and early, seting some tip-ups and then cooking breakfast in the ice shanty. I heat my shanty with a small woodstove and cook the meal in a frying pan on top of the woodstove.    :D

I think one of the greatest ice meals would have to be a stew made from Boston Baked Beans and venison cube steaks. Cook the cube steaks first, then add beans second until hot. Mmmmm mmmm, now that is good eating. Also like venison chili, venison steak, venison sausage, jerky, etc. Ice season is a great time to do some hurtin' on my deer freezer!  Pan fried battered crappie is great too. Nice, hot, and oily! Oh, and to wash it all down, of course, beer. I am thinking about buying a perculator this year for morning coffee too.
You may call me crazy, but crazy catches fish!

What the H*LL is self heating soup? Does it have the same chemicals in it that those dry hand warmer packets have in them? I can see it now....Just shake can vigoursly and wait 5 minutes...BOOM!!!....LOL....WK
Give your son a fish, and he will eat for a day.....teach your son to fish and eventually he'll end up kicking your @ss every time you fish together!!!

Normally it's some type of jerky (venison preferred) and a little water to wash it down. Then I slam the beers when I get home!

Me and my buddies had a good year in the woods, so it'll be venison and moose steaks, and venison and moose brats.  And for those that say wild game is better for you...it probably is before it's cooked in bacon grease.  Sometimes I can actually feel my arteries clogging as I'm eating...may not be the healthiest choice, but it sure does taste good.  Washed down with an icy cold adult beverage...perfect.
