Bgreen02,

When we ( I find, I'm a bit farther north than you ) some safe ice we'll have to do some fishing together.

I am looking forward to getting out on the ice. I have 2 days off in a row after christmas (3 if I include christmas day) so I should have a few good days to get out there. Once St. Claire freezes up I might do a lot more after work or before. Be nice to fish with some pros.

I stop at a farm out here in Wisconsin on my way ice fishing.  Nice people there, they give me a few pounds of killer beef or venison jerky for $20.

for those of you warming up stews and chili and crap...take along a pot, seal your chili/stew in a foodsaver or a ziplock.  Fill pot with water, toss in plastic bag with food in it, warm up on heater.  When done, dump water, dishes are done.

you can heat up ANYTHING that way.  I hate dishes.

If I go with Whatpole, he takes the grill and does the cooking.  Grilled pork chops and doritos on hardwater, washed down with a few Pabsts,  now that's a little slice of heaven if you ask me.

If I go solo, I ussually set a can of soup on top of the buddy heater to warm it up.

I picked up some "HeaterMeals" to try out on the ice this season.  Self contained, self heating meals like chicken with pasta and pepper steak with rice.  Looks pretty interesting. I'll post when I get on the ice and try one.

venison one way or another. on a good day, freshly caught fish hit the frying pan. always a jug of water, and over nights, a case of beer. gotta live in comfort... aka cook over heater. nothing like a $2 fry pan to keep things going interesting in a fish house when the lines go slow.
