I just use the cheap ole Thinsulate packboots with a couple pair of wool socks.  Every now and then if it's real cold out I'll have to slap in some toe/feet warmers in the socks... This year I'm actually going to get a pair of the Gerbing heated socks and see how they work... I'll post my results upon trying em out!

Army issued Micky Mouse Boots is what I wear!! You can't go wrong with these boots, they WILL keep your feet warm know matter what you do or in any kind of weather!! Its never happened to me but two men I've talked to said they some how filled their Micky Mouse boot up with water , then sat down , took it off to empty the water out , put it back on and their foot was warm again in ten or fifteen min. I myself have never had cold feet while wearing these boots. I don't know what the Army puts in them but they sure do keep your feet warm

  Steve

Steve you are right. I have the same boots and my feet have never been cold!

It was the best $29.95 I've spent on ice fishing!

Search them on ebay Bata Mickey Mouse Boots!

i usually have footwear on. ???

Do the leaves of trees stay greener, in the autumn, does the colour of the sun, turn crimson white? Does a shadow come between us, in the winter?

I went through 4 pairs before getting it right.  I even tried the toe warmers but they go cold in about 4 hours and really only take the edge off the cold. It also depands on a person's physiloogy. My buddy could get by with uninsulated work boots  :cookoo: So I finally got a pair of pack boots with 1200 grams of thinsulate,  i use cabela's thin wicking polyester socks and then their heavy blend socks and i'm toasty warm all day long.  It also is a very good idea to change into pack boots right before getting on the ice,  so the feet don't sweat!                        J.

I started with LaCrosse Icemans. That pair lasted me 11 years and I still have them. I keep them in my car in case I break down on the way to and from work. I bought a new pair of LaCrosse Icekings three years ago.  I can't remember the last time my toes have gotten cold.

Bluefinforme, I think that would be a lot better than wearing a thong and wrapping my feet in chest waders! LOL

For those that tried the deo-I read where it takes a couple weeks for your feet to adjust to it. Can't remember the explanation though. I too take an extra pair of socks along.

First, as others have posted, for me a pair of liner socks(very thin, almost silk-like, perspiration-wicking) are a must. Then, either wool/wool blend socks over the top. Finally, Bata "bunny"/"mickey mouse" military boots-be sure and get Bata and not some knock-off brand. I had a pair of black ones last season, which are rated to -20. I brought a pair of white ones (rated -20 to -40) off ebay for $20 for this season. And also, this season, since the seat doesn't slide back in my one man, I brought a square rubber door/carpet mat (the thicker the better) for $4 at walmart to put my feet on. I have stayed out 16hrs without the mat.

Oh, and one more thing to add my to my previous post--make sure that you have plenty of air-space between your socks and the inside of your boot. Air=insulation from the cold!

to add to that, make sure you have space between your sock and your toes, dont go cranking up on your socks, leave room for circulation
