i know places were ive caught 36 3-7 lb carp overnight [ in 6 hours] so i love carp fishing and ive caught record holding carp in ny and nj its an awsome game fish and they do get big ive caught 40 lbers and ive seen people use worms as bait -----------> doesnt work as well as corn yes corn is the best for carp u need to chum the waters with corn and then they get use to feeding on the corn just make sure its legal in your areas
A few pounds away but I snagged it so I assume it wouldnt count anyways..Our lakes do have much bigger though..Easily a state record in there I just dont know how to catch them lol
Would the cheap tip-ups work for carp? I broke off 5 of the darn things today and would like to catch a few of them. I really dont want to spend a lot on them as there is nothing else I would use them for. Would these work? http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/ht-enterprises-fisherman-tip-up-black-with-200-spool.aspx?a=329010 Keep in mind that they would only be used a couple times a year. And I just use dacron line on them with a mono or flouro leader, right?
Corporal p there aint no magic bait for carp, sometimes some flavours just work better than others. I make my own boilies, in warmer water i like really fruity flavours and in cooler water i like fishy flavours (the channel cats can be a pain tho!) any serious carper has an arsenal of bait flavours! Mirrors and commons come from the same fish, commons were selectively bred to become scaless to make them easier to harvest for food. (thats right carp were brought into north america with the intention of becoming THE food fish!) Prayfor ice if you wanna learn to catch carp, use google and start with these terms.... "knotless knot" "bolt rig" If you guys start getting into them and want to catch and release please handle carp with care, they are way to big fat and heavy to be held up by the gills, pick them up by supporting them under the belly just like buddys there on page 1, the one caught on the ice (kudos to the catcher of that fish btw, HOG! 2lb line too - respect to you sir!) Wet nets and tight lines to anyone that gives em a go (without a snagging or bow hunting)
