I have a buddy who eats small carp, he has a big concrete minnow pond in his garage, he puts live carp in there for about 2 weeks. He claims that the 2 weeks in cool clean water helps flush the muddy taste out of the meat... I think its way too much work personally, if i'm hungry i'll fish for something else, but i like the theory! i might just have to invite myself round to his for dinner. If i had my own minnow tank big enough i'd give it a go....but i don't!

BBK
When i caught that carp (Im the buddy) lol  i was using 10lb tst with a shiner on a treble. I caught one the week before in the same spot but with a little different setup..

This one was caught on a quick strike rig with a shiner on each treble... I was fishing about 6'' off the bottom, in the only hole in the area we were fishing... 12' with 6'-7' being the norm around the area.
This one POPPED thru the hole... the other one we had to use the spud! ;D

Round these parts we usually don't target carp unless we're bow-fishing - that being said I did jig up one last week - good fight that got me excited but was disapointed when I saw what it was.  I believe a tip-up would work ( with lots of line), but I don't think they are too active in the winter.  2lb weight line isn't going to hold most of the carp around here, 5 - 15 lbs. good luck
wishin I was ice fishin
