Well what does everyone drive on to their favourite lake???
Personally my baby is a 1994 F150 4x4 This baby has 310,000 KMs and still purrs. Well with dual exhaust it roars. ;D ;D
-
Why my long legs of course. They never freeze up and if too much snow then I bring along snowshoes. That way I also don't have to buy a membership at the gym. I have walked 10.5 miles once on a lake but I was a little younger then. Now probably the most I do is 4 miles. I have my easy pulling sled for all my gear.
-
Same here, my size 13's! Someday maybe a quad.
-
87 jeep cherokee,72 skidoo
stump
-
Same here - pull a Jet Sled loaded with the goodies. But I've been eyeballing my riding lawn mower. It's a Troybuilt 42inch deck, not sure on motor without looking at it. Nice wide tires. Anyone take their deck off and use the mower???? ::) :D
-
Suzuki quad master pulling a jet sled and shappel ice shanty if alot of snow then i use the 1970 skidoo.
-
2003 f 250 sd baby. we got 2 ft good clear ice and not much snow.
-
My Honda four wheeler. Why walk when you can ride. Thats my motto.
-
1974 John Deere JDX 340 snowmobile. Rough but good enough.
-
My Honda four wheeler. Why walk when you can ride. Thats my motto.
you said it iceman honda never lets me down but if the snow gets too deep then ski - doo gets the call!less walking more fishing
-
1980 Kawasaki drifter and dog sled, pretty rough lookin but goes good most the time
-
Honda Foreman and trailer I pulled it up on works great and your can't believe all the stuff you can put on that. and even got room for passagers 1.50 a head each way LOL ;D

91' king quad, or my 92' ford ranger (155k miles, rolled once)
there's my truck - on the ice
(http://www.myfishingpictures.com/img/043652.jpg)
you see my quad in the background here
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/robb_76/102_0224.jpg)
-
My 4-wheeler,mostly on set up. If and when I get a FLAAAAAG I'm on foot.
smitty
-
Hoofen it....although I have been known to drive the occasional Titelest during slow times ;D
-
Wherever the DNR lets me I use my 03 Arctic Cat 400 4x4. Otherwise it's the legs :(
-
1995 Ford F-150 4x4 - lookin for a decent 4-wheeler or older snomobile possibly for next season tho
-
Tricked out '95 Full Sized Bronco (gotta be alot of ice!) or '95 Indy 650 Trpl.
-
Had a 2003 Honda 450 Foreman, had to sell over the summer. It really sucks. I'm gettin another ASAP!
-
Depending on lake and conditions, my 1997 f-150 4x4, kawasaki 700 prairie or ski doo skandic ;D
-
Beat up 93 honda 300ex. Gets you off the ice in a hurry if need be. More duct tape than plastic on the fenders. By the way last year on Erie we saw a guy with his lawn mower about 2 miles out.
-
Either my size 15's or my 99 Explorer. I should look into getting my 3 wheeler fixed to avoid walking out. The shack is too big to pull by atv so my vehicle goes out on 12 inches of ice or more. My next vehicle probably won't see the ice other than to drop my gear off on the landing.
-
Just my feet for now, until I get a Ski-Doo.
-
Pair of size 14 La Crosse Icemans or 88 Polaris Trailboss
-
1991 Tundra LT, perfect ice fishing machine. goes about 45 mph (250 cc) :)
-
2002 Honda fourwheeler, or my Rocky lynx 13's
-
My team of 6 Siberians that tug my sled and equipment!! ;)
-
Early ice walk, Safe ice Polaris Sportsman 500, or Pickup.
-
Right now I'm walking. I need the exercise ;D
Question - my F350 SD PSD tops out just shy of 4 Tons (7,800 pounds- about). Who would drive this on a lake?
We have 12 inches, but its not that great of ice. We had a lot of warm and then cold days, with rain in the begging of the season.
-
Campingdude I would wait until you have 24 inches of solid ice. Just not worth it.
-
I'm a fan of Polaris; 1996 wideTrack Gt 20 inches and Sportsman ATV 500 liquid cooler for the spring time. ;)
-
I don't see sleds in the immediate future as I don't have storage space, but am beginning to think about getting one at least. I have a 2000 Sierra 1500 2WD that has done me relatively well, but traction isn't great - in the next few months I foresee trading it in on either a 3/4 diesel 4x4 or an Avalanche 2500. That will increase the weight, but I should get more traction and possibly a bit more clearance.
-
i have polaris exlpore 400 4x4 that all i need
-
My 2004 Dodge 3/4 ton Diesel 4x4 gets me there. Once there I got a brand new 2005 Bombardier Traxter XT 650 ATV to get around on the ice. Its my Elk hunting rig too.
I am selling a 2003 Bombardier Traxter XL 500. Nice machine and its a beast. Only has 105 hours on it. Hate to sell it but I got a swinging deal on the new one.
-
Sometimes my 2003 F150
(http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-3/136025/OWYXF-P9200053_WEB.jpg)
or a Polaris 550 Sport Touring
(http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-3/136025/OYJRY-Sled_WEB.jpg)
-
I take Earl my 2001 Chev pick up, used to take Harry my 91 Ford but he got pretty sick and had to put him down.
-
I would have not problems driveing your truck out on the ice Campingdude. I always said that the best fishing or hunting vehicle is someone elses. I have a f250 SD 4x4 that is my work truck has three toolboxes totally loaded. I bet it is close to yours and I have been driving it here in Mn for three weeks. I started when we had 16 in of ice. Did not even stress the ice.
-
 UP HERE ON THE DEAD SEA WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING AROUND ON THE ICE FOR A WEEK NOW
-
Down here in the Catskills I fish mostly in Wilderness designated areas and No motor vehicles allowed.
I do drive my fishing buddies crazy catching all those nice trout though ;D
-
Feet don't fails me Now!
-
My sportsman 400 stays running all day long. If I get a flag a mile away. I hop on and go. My son likes to chase flags on his scrambler 90. All day fun.
F.C.

My dakota, or my feet. Sometimes I get The Muddler to carry me too.
-

-
after checking on my snow drifted in shack trying to get close to it in2ft of snow my 96f150 2x4 reg cab got very sick, clutch and tranny broke and my door handle broke, limped off the ice took it to the Dr. ,$4000 might help screw that,so i bought a new 2005 f150 4x4 crew cab with the fx4 package now i can really get out to my shack and get it out of that snow bank.
-
My feet. Then my Jeep Wrangler with the top off of course 8)
-
2 winters ago I drove the wifes car out on the lake here in town until the end of january before the snow got too deep and I started getting stuck. She never found out until the following fall, needless to say now I have to use my 93 skantic sled there too.Her car is a 1995 Ford Taurus. The local will be talking about that for years after I leave. They call the taurus my "other" skidoo.Which was how the wife found out I had her car on the lake every other day for 2 months!!!!!!!!It sure was warm ,that was a really cold winter it was -25 celcius on a warm day.We even set some records.
-
The best for me was a 1987 S-10. Lightweight, ran great, 30 MPG. Wish I had never sold it!
-
Well yesterday I would of killed for a snowmobile. Lake Manitoba has so much snow on it that only snowmobiles or Bombardiers have access, My long legs were my wheels
-
My 1995 Polaris Sportsman 400 or when there isn't enough ice, my legs ;D
-
1991 POLARIS TRAIL BOSS 350L 4X4 RIGGED FOR ICEFISHING.
-
Fishface that is very nice. can it handle deep snow???
-
IT SURE CAN, IT IS A LIQUID COOLED 2 STROKE WITH AUTOMATIC AND HAS 4 WHEEL DRIVE HI AND LO RANGE. BUT YOU HAVE TO CLEAN THE SNOW FROM OUT UNDER THE DRIVE TRAIN BEFORE IT FREEZES WHEN YOU ARE DONE OR IT WILL LOCK EVERYTHING UP TIGHT. IT IS AN OLD ANIMAL BUT IN GOOD SHAPE WITH 995 MILES THE ONLY THING BAD IS IT IS CHAIN DRIVE, I HOPE TO UPGRADE TO A SHAFT DRIVE NEWER MODEL IN THE SPRING/SUMMER HOPEFULLY. I USED TO WALK AND DRAG EVERYTHING ON SLEDS BUT NOW I SET IT UP TO CARRY ME AND ALL MY GEAR. I MADE A PAIR OF PLASTIC V BLOCKS AND U BOLTED THEM TO THE FRONT RACK FOR MY JIFFY 3HP 10" AND SECURED WITH HEAVY DUTY BUNGEE CORDS AND CUT TWO 5 GALLON BUCKETS DOWN IN HALF AND BOLTED THEM WITH U BOLTS TO THE REAR RACK AND MY TWO BUCKETS SLIP RIGHT IN AND HOLD TIGHT FOR THE RIDE OUT TO THE LAKE. TOTAL COST OF ABOUT $6.00.

Beat up 93 honda 300ex. Gets you off the ice in a hurry if need be. More duct tape than plastic on the fenders. By the way last year on Erie we saw a guy with his lawn mower about 2 miles out.
Ive got a 1986 honda fourtrax 250 two wheel drive that is red spray paint and ducktape runs good wont go in deep snow but if it is packed down it will go with the tire chains also have 1990 polairs sprint 340 paid 500 bucks for it mint coditnon and i also saw a guy coming of the ice on a 80s vintage craftsman riding mower.
P.S one time we went to a one day derby the nightbefor ( we sleep in our shack) we just towed the shack out on the trailer behind the truck and left it on the trail for the night!
-
Hey tb still a worthwhile investment ;) ;) :o :o
-
I drive my polaris snowmobile out, or my favorite is talking my buddy into driving his truck.....
-
1988 yamaha enticer towing this
Sorry, which photo was of the Enticer? ??? ;D ;D ;D
-
im not sure ;D
-
(1st choice)'98 yamaha srx-made to go over 100 mph on the ice, not 10 mph towing a jet sled that all my equipment falls out of, tends to foul the plugs. (2nd choice) one of my brothers trucks. (3rd choice) my sorels, when the sleds in the shop and nobody else has a vehicle they want to sink.

Bi - pedal power , i let my 2 feet do the walking. Rarely do we ever get over 6 - 8 inches of ice , makes it kinda difficult to use anything powered to get on the ice , except if i attached a sled to my yellow lab. LOL
(BTW) he's 90#s and still thinks he's small enough to be a lap dog LOL
-
I`ll be driving a snowbear after I win the lotto $25,000 us check this thing out at www.snobearind.com
-
Wow, I am impressed. Thats alot of spendo's but what an awesome rig. It floats to boot which would eliminate any worries of plunging through. I could just imagine the places I could access with that thing. Cool find Keny. I think I want one. ;D

Couldn't drive on the ice here this year, but if I could this is what I would drive. It won't fit into the garage. Next time I am buying a truck first and then the house to put it in.
