I've been at the East side of the state since friday night fishing with the S.E guys. Just curious how everything held up around home this wknd? Gotta call from a buddy here that said he drilled about 70 holes and couldnt find fish on a normally VERY productive lake (hope ya got into em today!) Howd everyone else fair out?

Doc, was they gills or specs? I still gotta make it over there. What you got planned for the week? How about we meet up and head over there, i got easy access to the narrows from a cottage just around the point.

specks.you dont like speck do ya im for sure gonna try to get out there sometime this week or weekend.the walk from the launch is a hike with the snow.

Let me know when you plan on goin, i can get ya a shorter walk! I know there are gills in them narrows tho, i'll just give you all my specs until i find the gills!

i here ya.i barely have luck with gills because i fish with minnows only but ive caught a few gills.and i fish late afternoons.

ive got the same problem- i leave my lakes to fish in places that are loaded with perch or gills (to get away from the specs) and i catch specs! i cant stop!

Ya I do need to work tomorrow.......startin around 5 p.m. fishing should be o.k.........nothing to write home about. I think it will be better than this weekend was. I look into my empty bucket and see a limit of gills in my future

screw the gills, i see 30 perch in that bucket! Nothin under 8", im gonna get that guys' number i told ya about and see if hes still catchin em, i know he was out friday, didnt catch his limit, but had 20 nice perch in the basket again.

The fact that I did not get a brag call means no good......I was thinking the other chief noonday. Or the Chief noonday we first met on. Or maybe the chief noonday next to the noonday I drilled 70 holes on. All will produce slab gills. Sorry about the laggy posting...I am ebaying the !@#$ outa some stuff.

limited on walleyes today on fife lake and about 20 nice perch. fishing has picked up.

Sounds like it flag! Thats a darn good day!

I say the cheif noonday we first met on is a good bet RC.. Last weekend they were hammering the pike out there, and there is always a good establishment of gills in there. Me n Pa might make the ride down there this week sometime and go thin em out a little.

Went for a trip to Higgins today with my dad and made out with about 40 or 50 perch (small ones) and fished for smelt for about 3 hours and started to pull them in left and right for about an hour and then they just shut off so we ended up with 45 which isn't great but hey it could be worse. All and all we had a great time and that's truly what matters

Had a decent weekend, moved my shanty a bit and found some nice gills to go along with the crappies.
Tally for saturday night, sunday morning, and sunday afternoon:

18 gills, with 3 over 10 inches, 19 specks, biggest was 12.5 inches. My 12 year old daughter laid claim to the 3 big gills, by hole watching. She would pull her bait away from the little guys, and yank when big boys grabbed it. She was having a blast.

Had a good week went out to reed lake pike fishing saturday mornen. ended up with 3 on the ice. sunday went to lime lake caught 19 very nice gills and a nice pike on a dead sucker. seem i had the hot hand thou no one else out there was catching anything

Lk. St. Clair was a bust on Sunday. Tried 3 diff spots with Minnows & Jigs and notthing biting, at least not for me. There were a lot of shanties on the lake both in the Horseshoe and in front of Bobby Macs. Apparently there were a lot of Pike getting speared...at least that is what the CO informed me when he came up to check our licenses. Guess maybe that could be the reason for the slow action. On the plus side the water was crystal clear except for the Bouvia Marina' north channel. That was mudier than ^%^%$! Didn't see one fish on the ice when I went toolin around either. With all the shacks out there it would be nice to hear if anyone had any luck. There's always next weekend...........
