Got out for my first pike outing of 2024 closer to home this morning, started the day with a double header!

I first tried this spot from my float tube last summer, mainly a mix of largemouth bass and pike, but no sight of any largies today. Ice is finally getting there in my zone, had 6 inches solid ice today, though in most previous years, we already have double that by now.
Detailed report is up on my blog at https://www.montreal-fishing.com/2024/01/ice-fishing-report-for-january-2024.html (https://www.montreal-fishing.com/2024/01/ice-fishing-report-for-january-2024.html)

First one on the jigging rod was a blast, good fight on med light tackle, as I was after bass/perch with that lure.

Nice Phil! Bet that was a blast on the jigging rod!

Yes it was. Had the rod buried in the hole to avoid having fluoro cut at bottom of ice hole, fish made 5 or 6 runs back to bottom.

Yeah dude! Nice way to kick it off!

Nice. Canada is a world class fishery. Plus they always have early ice.

Yes, we have have some amazing resources here. just wish the local government would care as much about our fisheries as you guys do south of the border. Personally, I find Florida on top of the list, minus the ice fishing of course.
