I'm sure its probably safe...but wasn't taking a chance on walking out. The small pond usually freezes way before anything else. Guess its time to start keeping a spud,auger and some tackle in the truck!

The look of the shoreline says to me that it is not safe!! After it's good ice and there is a warmup the shore ice can look like that and the main body is fishable using a plank to get on but I would never chance it when it's first ice until it's locked up solid. Just my 2 cents..

A lot of small ponds looking like that around here. Bummer. Wait until mid next week. Should turn cold again starting Sunday. Hopefully we can get out on some ponds around here by new year. I might be a little too optimistic though

If that's SC pond be carefull I have fell through that pond twice on first ice with at least 3 inches both time the one time I thought I was a goner. Stay safe and stay on top.

Sc pond....? Never heard of it

. I've decided to wait until new years to even try it. The one pond last year looked sketchy...turns out it was a solid 10" lol. But with the variable temps we have been having I'll wait

I was being sarcastic lol there's no fish in there anyways. Better summer fishery than winter not sure why.

never went totally threw on that pond but my friend got a wet years ago that pond doesn't freeze even use a spud all the way

I wish more people practiced C&R there. It has been overfished the last few years and the numbers in there have gone way down.
