Bionic Fluorocarbon
« on: Sep 19, 2011, 12:25 PM »
Anyone plan on trying Northland's new Bionic Ice Fluorocarbon Silk line? Nylon co-polymer coated with a fluorocarbon sheath. Comes in clear or ice gray for six and a half bucks for 100 yds...allegedly  very limp and knot-strong line. Not a bad price, either..

I just read an email from Northland that went into great detail on the construction of this new line and it sounds like a winner.  All my line cash went into Lindy's copolymer ice line toward the end of last season. Retired Wisconsin Mod Skipper said he "Fell in Love with it", being better than anything he'd seen. That was all it took for me to jump on it. About the same price range but, Bionic just sounds worth trying. In the interest of science, here's a link.

I just won a spool of 8# Nanofil the other day! It says it's supposed to cast very smooth. Dunno if I want to re-line my rod for next summer or put it on my jigstick.....

If you're on Facebook, "like" Berkley. They've been giving a ton of stuff away!

Guinea good job, put it on your summer rod (stuff casts a mile) and for the price of it you can buy 3 spools of bionic.

I think I might try the Bionic in the ice grey color in 3, 4 & 6 lb weights.

Got an e-mail back from Berkley today and said the visibility factor is about the same as mono. He also said it hasn't ever been tested under ice conditions. He could have told me it does real well under the ice. But I think he was honest enough about it for me to give it a shot.  And at .002 for 2# test, if it works gonna call it TNT...Tough-N-Thin ;)
