Hand Jigging

Does anyone else out there fish one line using the spool, no rod and only one hole?  Your sole focus is fishing the one hole and feeling the bite.

Sometimes if I get into a big school of bluegill I will hand line. I just strip off plenty of line and set my rod in a rod holder next to me (in case I get a big bass or carp, then I can use the rod). I'll drop it down by hand, and feel the bite with my fingers. It works great, sometimes better than a rod (less erratic movement from a bouncing rod tip).

Same here when I find myself a nice patch of sunnies I'll jig em then hand over hand em up.
I have a BS in Narrative Fishing History.
