Bad Overflow
« on: Feb 10, 2008, 07:09 PM »
My wife and I took our skis out to Halfmoon Lake today, the overflow is the worst I have ever seen.  We were going to ski to the inlet but decided to wait for better conditions and hit the point and some other spots.  The one guy on a snowmachine sounded pretty bad as he bogged in and out of the wet spots (most of the lake).

The fishing was pretty good, nothing big but lots of 1-3 pounders.

I could see overflow in the snow on Fremont, did anyone head out there today?

BD and I were out there yesterday, it was pretty bad we tried to go to the north end but BDs yamaha only made it about 20 yards off the upper boat ramp. We had to stay on the lower end. Hopefully it sets up soon.

what're you gonna try this weekend, Dorado?  we might come down one day or another, but i think it is time for me at least to shift my focus to jackson area lakes again.  it's gettin' pretty expensive to be dricing up and down from here to there when we've got some good fishing in our backyard...   ::)

Probably fish Fremont one day, since you can at least access it without having to cross too much of the lake.  May have to try your spot  ;)....

I need to fish Phelps some afternoon, Maybe in March when the days start getting longer and I can take the afternoon off and ski in...

How bad is the overflow on Jackson Lake?

phelps has been rediculously slow for some reason this year - maybe it will pick up...  jackson lake is impassable by snowmachine, with about 1 1/2 ft of slush on the ice - but it had a hard enough crust on top to walk on it with snowshoes.  just digging down to the ice is a chore, though, not to mention chopping the hole and clearing it of slush.  must've taken me a good 15 minutes for just one hole.

Well first off, you must be hanging around with the same ladies skinner does. And that spud of yours probably weighs as much as a jiffy stealth. Or an Icegator, you can fit the dive in the backpack and just carry the hand auger end for it.

Spudbar or BD, I'm guessing brining my 4 wheeler to Fremont to hit Higgins would be futile? Thanks  Don  ;D

yes.  even snowmobiles with short tracks with little paddles aren't recommended.

Doesn't that discriminate against the wisconsin and minnesota wonders.

Thanks BD, so I guess it's either drag the Fishhut out to Higgens or fish the boat dock at Half Moon  ;D

spud, i am of the belief that we need to replace the prop with a jet engine.  also, does anybody have any ideas for a new paint job?

Spud, BD, in consideration of your other sporting activities, have you given any thought to cammy with hunter orange trim?
