Off The Bottom

How far do you normally keep your bait off the bottom?  Or how do you know how far off the weeds to keep it so you dont get pics the whole time?

i keep the bait off the bottom about 1 1/2"

i usually keep mine about the same. sometimes a little shallower, it just depends on what lake your fishing.
