State perch derby

Hats off to you Dave!  I hope all this negative talk doesn’t put a damper on you pursuing this.  I like the idea and its going to take lots of hard work and coordination between each fishing derby officials. 

I’m not sure what you had in mind about the top ten teams qualifying at each derby?  Not all team members are the same at each event.  Is it going to be any single member of a top ten finishing team at a derby qualifies and he or she can have their own team at the state event?  Or allow the same two person team that compete at an event and qualifies get to fish.   Just an idea… Have any two person team that fish together and qualifies to fish the state event and enter that state event as a team get an automatic in to fish the second day of the state event even if they do not make the cut off for the first day of the state event. 

I’m worried if you are only taking the top ten teams from all the other derbies that you’re limiting the turn out for the state event.  I think this idea of a state tournament is great and I want this thing to get off the ground on a running start with no disappointment.  We all know little turn out equals small pay out.  A state event should be big with a big payout.   No one wants to pay a steep entry fee either.  How does this sound… the first day any team can fish to qualify for the second day of fishing the cut off is, let’s say 20+ this is picked out of non pre qualified teams that did not place at a previous event.  All Teams that qualified at a previous derby are already qualified to fish the second day.  Depending on the number of entered (in the state event) of the previous derby qualifiers if the 20 non qualifiers that qualify for the second day will be increased hence the +.

I like the idea of a neutral spot to fish where no other derbies take place.  Tiber seems to be a very large and somewhat far for some to drive.  May I suggest Pishkin or Arod Lakes maybe both fish one one day and the other the next.

This idea is a great one and i know that if you can get it going i have about 3 teams that want to take part in it i know i will be there.

Tiber is a tough lake for perch but that's what makes you the best of the best if you can produce fish on a tough lake lets do it

My plan is to do 5-6 Perch Assaults throughout the state in 2012...we will have a larger pool to draw from for the state event that way.

That sounds great.  More perch assaults will be a hell of a lot of fun.  A perch series and a championship on a neutral lake will be nothing but fun.

  Sounds like someone is scared of a little competition?  Ya he’s good but not unbeatable.

Ya I had the pleasure of beating the iceholer so ya he is human! But he is my partner for sum of the derby's but he can find big perch! Just as long as his partner doesn't sleep on the ice
