We now have our 6th Annual Derby Location : Lake Aeroflex

The Derby date : Saturday Jan. 31, 2009 Alternate : Saturday Feb. 7 , 2009

Time : 7:00 AM thru 2:00 PM

Sign up deadline : Thursday Jan. 29, 2009 9:00 PM
You must be a registered member by the sign up dead line.
Children don’t have to be registered members.

In the next few days I will put up the main derby post. Until then Shawn will start us off with the sign up.

Sign in will start 7:00 AM till 9:00 AM on the day of the derby.

Guys:

Would love to go, but the (Almost Annual

)Crappie Derby at Whitney Point is on the same day and it looks like this year it's a go (the previous few years were cancelled due to unsafe ice). My dad and I have been going to this derby since I was 9.

If it does get cancelled/rescheduled...count me in!

Please read the main derby post as changes had to be made regarding "weigh in station" and giving out prizes .. as per state park rules.

i dont get it. does it go by inches in all species of the lake, with photos? or do we have to kill the fish to have it measured somewhere?

The fish are measured in inches. All the fish in the lake are included in one of the categories. When you catch a fish that you want measured you will get in touch with us and we will come measure it and take down your catch. I'm sure we will have a release hole by our set up if you are close to us, or else after it is measured you can release it back yourself. Did I help ya out there?

guys, from reading a post from a couple years ago, i gather that you have a station somewhere with a hole to release a fish after its measured... i dont know where you will be set up on the lake (hopefully not near the parking lot, that will be too far of a walk with a fish i would like to release) i dont kill freshwater fish, and i have a suggestion for those who want to fish the derby and want to release fish- have it like the governors surf tournament at island beach, where guys come around with a ruler and you stop them to measure your fish if your entered, and then you can release it quickly.. at least you can keep them on a stringer this way until an official measurerer comes along

well thats my two cents on this, count me in at aeroflex, but if i catch a fish, and the weigh stations to far away to walk with, its going back in, thanks! 8)
