I was there today and drilled a couple holes.  Ice is only around 2-3 inches thick.  Warm spell took its toll, but it is making ice now.  No one out yet.  I'm waiting for it to get a bit thicker.

Ice is 5-6 inches thick on the West side and tapers to the East.  Drilled some ice around 3 inches thick in the mid section and turned around and backed off.  There is an open area from the boat ramp area extending to the outlet tower area.  This area doesn't have safe ice even after a 40 below spell and is always "stay off".

Quite a few ice fisherman and women out.  Even some skaters.  Shacks are showing up too.

The bite is slow and its very windy and cold.  Your best bet would be to try somewhere else until the bite picks up.

Tight lines.

Shacks are showing up.  Long cold nights are offsetting above freezing temps for a few hours in the mid afternoon.  Doesn't take long to cool right off now as the sun dips down.  Especially with the existing ice acting like a big freezer.

Some nice pike and walleye showing up.  Bring minnows with you as there is no place around here to buy them.  Some folks leaving tipups out all night.  Rumors of local kids stealing fish off of these setlines, ie. tipups.

Ice is thicker on west side tapering to open water on east side.

Ice skaters are also out.  Ice is mostly nonsnowcovered and clear.  Can sight fish through the ice in many spots.  Some spear fisherman out.  Haven't talked to them but should be good with the clear water.

Jigging is the most effective method so far for me at least.

Tight lines.
