I am curious of what types of rods to use.  I usually try to use a light action pole but I don't know if that is the right choice.  Any suggestions??

EM, How's the action on Perch Pounder? Is it a fiberglass blank? Thx.

Not a glass blank. I use it more for walleyes but does work great for spoons on perch. I like the Gill Seeker for plastics on tungsten jigs. Tough lite bites I use my Tripwire.

Same with me the HT Ice Blues 18" are awesome little rods.  I unscrewed the springs out of the foam slab stoppers and they fit perfect threading into the small tip for a nice little spring bobber for even finer bites.

Depends on the presentation used. If the fish want a spoons jigged aggressively then I like a medium light fast action rod. If they want a hard pounding with a small jig I like an ultra light. If they want a small jig with a soft subtle swimming action I like a noodle rod.

I've been using a Frabill 27" QT "Bro" combo that I bought last spring on sale. I think I gave about $30 for the combo. It has what appears to be a Pflueger reel on it. Very nice reel and probably the best perch rod I've ever used. I've got a JMitchell meat stick and this Frabill is a better rod IMO.

Also use an HT 26" Cisco which is great and has large guides that don't clog with ice like the Ice Blues do, use this mostly when not inside the shaty with a heater going and it is inexpensive, got mine for $10
