Winchester Ice
« on: Jan 06, 2021, 11:24 AM »
I understand guys where out on Winchester last week but curious if there is an update on the ice there for this weekend.  Can't believe this winter is starting off like last year.  My guess is nowhere is safe and better have a spud.  Thanks All!

I was out there 6 hours yesterday. That’s patience with this lake ;D
Anyway 4+ inches of decent quality ice. Open water as you travel north on the lake. Bring your spud if you’re moving in that direction.

Was there yesterday. 4.5-5".  But 1,000 people on the ice..  was on the ice for 9 hours.   I won't go back any time soon.

Amen...no flags for my last 11 hours on Winnie. My bait likes it though cause they know there’s little chance of being eaten.  ;D

Yup, swung by Winchester at dusk. Not much evidence of successful fishing. However, it was great to see some clam shells out on the ice!  I Look forward to getting out this week.

Place used to be great.  It became popular here and on FB and that was that.

Just got back from Winchester. Fished for about 5 hours with only two small pickerel to show for my efforts.
Only half of the lake is fishable with the entire north open water or skimmed. I’ve only fished the stumps every time I’ve been there so it was “new territory” for me today.
It was packed as I expected since it is one of the only spots fishable in CT.
For my first trip of the season...it was just good to be out there. 👍
