Calling it
« on: Mar 08, 2019, 09:16 PM »
Well first ice mid ice and last  ice all in 5 weeks. I am calling it a season. Went yoday on our 5 acre  pond. Fished from 2-4pm. Had 4 then 3 1/4" where we wanted to be. Water puddled up an was bouncy after two hours of sitting do we didn't push the envelope. Hot each of us a meal of crappie and big bull gills don't be the guy in the water. It's just not worth it. Make good decisions.

Short rods put away and gear packed in garage. Log poles out and waders out of storage. Fuel drained from auger. And cold weather bibs and parka hung up. Form is in ready to eat. See ya all next season. Hope before  Christmas

I got out yesterday for one last trip. This week does not look good. Middle of March, 50's, sunny with a couple days of warm rain. I'll keep my ice gear out a little longer... mainly cuz it needs to dry out from yesterday... but I'm starting to think more of cleaning the kayaks and registering a trailer.

I am also done for the season. Still got out quite a bit despite the short season. I drove by my local lake and it was half ice and half open water. I will be out with the kayak next weekend.

All done for me.  I got out much more than I thought this season.   I also explored some new waters which was a great experience.   Catch you all next year hopefully early and often.

Yeah, I think I"m calling it season finale as well.  Came home this afternoon after a few errands and cleaned out the back of the truck and stored everything into the garage..

I'm sad to say I only got out 3 times this season. It was just one of those things, had way too much going on these couple months. Crappy weather on my days off and the passing of my Father-in-law over the holidays made things rough.

But all in all, all is Great as I'm now a Grandfather as of last week!!!!.  My Daughter and Son-in-Law blessed us with a beautiful little grandson..  That certainly brightened up my world again!!!!!!

Hats off boys, here's to next Ice Season!!!  :flex:   Time to change the season hobbies!!!!  Like Chez mentioned, River Cat time and then back into the kayaks.

Peace Out!!  The Dawg.

Started 1/26 ended 3/9 great year.
My buddy won the Walleye category at Canadohta Lake tourney, I caught a 22” 5.5# Largemouth PB. Our group averaged 30+ fish per trip Pickerel, Northern, Perch & Bass! Built a Smitty Sled feel in love with Finicky Foolers & really enjoyed a short but rewarding year.
Tip Up!

Where are you going and when?  It's been a terrible season for me since I didn't even get out once which is unheard of for me.  Hopefully I'll manage to get out at least once and next year I'll be back in business like always.

Report on 3/6 indicated Belmont had between 15-20" of ice so that should still be good.  Pleasant Mount, which is near Belmont, had 8" of snow on the ground yesterday...in the fields.

A bunch of my friends will be fishing Sun. near Mt Pocono though I have a music gig. That said Mon. through Weds might be doable if the temps are close to the predictions.

My stuff all put away & called it a season. I got out 11 times. It was not a great season for me. I never really got into a good bite. Caught a few nice fish & alot of dinks. All in all. There is nothing like being on the ice. Hope next winter is not such a roller coaster weather. Those up & down temps. Make ice fishing so much more complicated. Always wondering weather the ice is safe. Really take the joy out of it . The capt

I got out something like 15 times give or take. Had a few slow days but I was usually with buddies and I had a good time regardless. But I also got into some good bites. Only regret I have is that I didn't get to hang out with more of my buddies. Didn't get to hang out with carpboy or slaphappy or pappydawg or chris or TaftonDan or zziipp... heck the list goes on. Sorry I didn't get to see you guys!

Same here Mike   Wish we could have hooked up.  I didn't get out nearly as much as you.   Seems every Saturday I did get out, the wind was howling, including this weekend.  I may have gotten out 6 or 7 times, and only had one day with a decent bite.  Glad you got into some fish.  Was fun fishing with snake bit Rut Nut Perry 2x this year, Red Blur Evan 1X and of course, SlapHappy Jeremey several times.  Good laughs, food and drink.  We'll have to try and coordinate schedules next year.   Have a great kayak season!

I fished Upper Woods with a buddy on Sat morning. He had to leave at 11, so I drove to Upper Woods and met some of the guys there in the afternoon. Not much of a bite at either lake, but it was 3/16 and ice was solid! Can’t complain!  ;)

I’m gonna try to stretch it one more week. Got a good aluminum 8’ plank already strapped to the roof-rack and gonna leave all my gear in the vehicle.  Might even hit Promised Land after work tomorrow. Not ready to give up quite yet!  ;D
