Cold Weather on the Way
« on: Mar 31, 2019, 02:35 PM »
According to the weather report on the radio this afternoon, the weather is supposed to turn cold tonight and remain "unseasonably cool" for the next week.

With any luck, we'll be able to get in one last shot at icefishing next weekend.

Fingers crossed!

Then there are the ones who troll their fly rods and call it fly fishing. I get a kick out of those people. See it all the time

That's how I feel about people who euro/czech nymph.  They've got 50 feet of mono on a 11 foot 3wt rod and a large arbor reel.  The fly line never touches the water so you are essentially high sticking a fly using a mono rig and the 11 foot rod lets you get down to like 2lb tippet without breaking off a bunch.  They sure do work but at that point just use a spinning rod and bait.

The best ones are the guys in boats at monomoy rips fly fishing. They literally let the line back into the rip. They never make a cast and call it fly fishing.

Jim, I was on the mountain this morning. I found 12 inches of snow ice over a foot of black. Should hold for one more weekend.
