I fished LSF Pond in Westford on Sat, and the ice was degrading quickly.
The crust turned to a slushy mess and the remaining ice was not going to last.
Plus the old holes were opening up (and expanding) under the slop (I stepped in one just before I left).
Sadly, much of eastern MA is done for the season. Anyone willing to risk further ventures should wear a dry suit and a life vest because YOU WILL NEED IT!!!n

I'm starting to think some of you have an affinity for plus sized women, and that it has nothing to do with ice! ;D
-
...the looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand, or so I have read...

I'm not scared at all. Now I can ice fish Saturday and take my boat out sunday. It's a win win. ;D

This is meant for those that know where Westford is located.

Too close to Lowell for my tastes...does the fat lady live in Lowell? There may be a few.

Checked a pond around the Worcester area today still had 15 inches hopefully still solid on Friday for one last trip

there sure is alot to like about lowell

I don’t know why I’m so compelled to take fat lady references in a dirty direction but I am.
Apple in her mouth? Not touching that one. :P
The rain coming Thursday into Friday will be a game changer for a lot of places but I almost bottomed our my auger a few days ago on a southern NH laker spot.
Still lots of ice just gotta be careful getting on it. I’m giving it another two weeks then it’s the dr appointments, dentists and taxes I’ve been avoiding all season. I want zero responsibilities once open water becomes a thing.
Aside from work I don’t think I’ve done any any grown-upping since November.
Gonna do a years worth in April then it’s play time again.
Life sure was simpler 30 years ago. Wish I appreciated it more.

I'd say that any hope for finding safe ice east of Worcester had gone bye-bye last weekend.
The rest of this season is going to go down hill quickly.
Bring on the open waters, as my kayak is calling!!!

Berkshires or bust until April 1. Then calling it a season.

I spent this weekend up on the big lake in NH, and the section I fished (Moultonborough Bay) still had close to 2 feet of ice!
At this pace, most of the lake won't be iced-out until lake April!
Although the ice season ends on trout / salmon designated waters on 4/1, other waters are "still open for business".
Saw the last of the bob houses removed from Center Harbor and Meredith Bay this weekend....
