Yup. And you can use multiple trebles on one line, but not to exceed 15 hook points on any one line.

Are those vmc sure set hooks. The ones with the one longer treble legal in NY?

Nope..  But they were brand new and sharp...   Plus it had a 3 pound lake trout on the front hook wiggling around to make it go all the way to the bone....

That means i can put down mutiple baits on one tip up legally ?

Did you do field surgery and yank it out yourself and keep fishing ? 

     Yes...   Used the old, wrap some line around it, press down and my buddy yanked...  Came right out...   I was more worried about the other set of hooks...  It was the second night of a 5 night trip...    And its a long way to the nearest emergency center...   Heck it was 7 miles by boat to the nearest town....

    Yes but the other hooks will get hooked on the bottom of the hole and brake you off...
Not that I have done that..

Of course multiple baits. You won't get much on bare hooks. Just no more than 15 points, That 5 trebels and 5 baits. However, I never use more than two sets on one line. It can get REALLY tangled with all of those baits swimming around.

And someone above brought up the point that with multiple points, you can easily get hung up in the hole, loosing everything, including that lunker you just caught.
