Here's a pic of one before being installed in the tube. Skipper was nice enough to remind me about McMaster Car. That's where I got mine from.

that is a awesome job! One question did you ever think about putting a rubber strip or whatever where the cover is screwed to the tub maybe it would add some durability around the screws seal along the whole edge?

It may bee a good idea. If you have ever nailed a tarp or plastic sheeting up, you know that you must put lath up or the nails will rip through. From the factory, a Voyager has a strip that snaps over the lip of the sled to secure the tent. You secure this strip with screws to prevent it from falling off.

Yes, I think Ice 45 has a real good point. You don't want the screws ripping through the tent.

Thanks skipper, yeah i just don't want to see the wind ripe big holes around the screws on your brand new shack. It turned out awesome!

I under stand what you mean now but I bolted the tent on throu the grommets that were all ready in the tent. I will keep an eye on these and at the first sign of the grommets starting to tear out I will use your suggetion. Thanks.

If you don't mind someone asking, what was the total cost on this build?? If your wife reads the forums I will understand if you don't want to answer this one  ;D  It's an awesome build for sure, I would love to try to make one. How hard are the locking buttons to put into the poles?? Thanks for your time. Mooks

I'v got right around $300 in it. The spring buttons are very easy to install in the poles. Drill a hole in a pole and slide the sring to the hole, it's that easy.

I'v'e installed my switches and wired everything in. Added a convienent rod holder too!

The Rod just slide in and out to adjust to the distance to the hole or the length of rod I am using.

If you had to guess, what do you think she weighs? Over or under 150?

My Voyager is around 140lbs. With all the add ons you did and the compartments, you should still be under 200.

very nice !!! I was considering building one. Ace hardware carries (or used to carry) a heavy duty sled that I was gonna use as a start. I just couldnt figure out how to make the poles extend... Now I know how!!!!  The sled is about 62" long 30" wide and 12" deep.. I was basically going to make a copy of the guide...  I got the idea from the famous fra-hillbilly... After reading this im really considering goin for it!!! seating will be the only issue. I could use a otter sled but theyre a good amount of money.. any suugestions?

Well I took the battery out of the boat and have installed it in the shanty. As I am going to be towing this with a snowmobile the wieght is not an issue. I installed it in the under seat compartment.

Ive added some hooks for easy tool organizing. The foam block it for holding hooks.

I finished my pin to hold the poles to the plate. They are 1/4" and I used washers inbetween the pole and plate. I like this set up as it will be easy at the end of the season to remove the tarp and store it in a mouse proof rubbermaid container.

I added this rod holder to the rod compartment to help keep thins organized.

This is just a pic in a dark garage with no camera flash. My comparment lights are awsome.

I also picked up this at Menards. They are called twist and lock. They are 34" long and you get 2 in a pack for $5. I think they'll be handy for all sorts of things. They can be bent into any shape you need.

That twist and lock is a good find.  What department of the store did you find it in?  I am only asking because the employees at the local Menard's are normally not the brightest people around.

I am surprised clam hasn't come out with something like that.  It could be used to hold a rod, and a coat rack, or anything really.  Definitely picking some up.

They were in the component shelving section by the peg board hooks and tool hangers. I think a guy could twist them up into some handy rod holders too! I might have to think about getting another set!

Nice, thanks for the info.  The color even matches!  Throw a clam logo on there and sell them for $20 and you would make a mint!
