we did 7 species in 2013, what if we cut it down to 5 for 2014???
Only 3 people posted up walleye, so lets drop it this one.

I had a blast with last years!

we did it for 3 monthes not 2 like the reg. IS tourney and here is how it stacked up.
yellow perch - 12 entries
pickerel - 10 entries
lake trout - 8 entries
northern pike - 8 entries
bluegill - 7 entries
crappie - 7 entries
walleye - 3 entries
So what do you guys think about going from 7 species down to 5 and which 5 species would you like, please post up......

I would like it if perch were kept. I know the regular tourney dropped them for this year, but that and crappie are what I mainly target.

If it helps, my selections would be Bluegill, Perch, Crappie, Walleye, Pickerel. I fish mostly panfish waters.

gills, perch, crappie, pickerel, walleye. funny i havent caught a pickerel or walleye through the ice but the lakes i fish don't have lakers so i cant really pick them now can I lol

I think that we are just going to keep the same species but truely only have the 5 and make the last 2 species at the bottom of the list a **combo bonus* catagory. After looking at the entries from last year, both walleye and pickerel seem to be about the same size, so comboing them should be ok. What I did add to the combo species is a 4th place to give a better chance to get both species on the list.
But in the end, only 5 species count and the 6th and 7th combo is just bonus because I want to see these awesome walleye and pickerel that are caught thru out NY.
What do you guys think? Sound like a plan, we'll still be able to post up 7 species. ;D

You signed up for the 2014 Team IceShanty's 12th Annual Online Tournament!!!
It's rule #3... 3) You must print a copy of the TI 2014 card which will be available on the night of 12-31-13.

no need to sign up for the NY bragging tourney, just print out the IceShanty normal tourney card when available on Jan. 1 and use that card for our NY tourney also. So if you've not, sign up for the regular IS tourney too.

Was wonder if next year there would be a way to start the ny brag n tourney when the ice comes instead of Han 1 st. I have caught a couple fish already worthy of the tourney and my biggest eye came before it started last year. Just wondering if it was a possability.

I like Jan. 1st.... there's no ice down here anymore and what we had wasn't safe
Also I don't see the difference in having only 5 species individually available to get 1st, 2nd, 3rd and then the " bonus" entries category. Might as well have all 7... You're going to be looking at the entries for pickerel and walleye anyway why not add them to it. I could see if you took them out completely it would make it less work but you'll still do the same amount of work since they are still there. Just my opinion but I'm not running the competition so I support your decision either way.

All in favor of handicapping Combsey about 8 inches for this year's tourney, since he creamed us all in the Pike category by at least that last year! :P

I know of bigger pike caught last year by fellow members I already got a nice 36 incher this year and lost a couple bigger. Dang 6 lb test

By looking at stuff a little closer.. just take a pic with fish by a tape measure, and then a pic with 2014 card and post it under specific species entry ?

Look at the 3rd place crappie. Get a pic of it on the tape and on the ice. I have got a 14 in perch and a monster pickerel this year and forgot my card both times

I hear ya when I caught my perch I had the 2013 card in my bibs and grabbed that at first and when you got to be kidding me.... checked my other pocket and there was the 2014 card thank god lol

Thanks combsey ... I didn't see that, lol ... but in the end, it's all brag'n rights ... I'll keep it up on the boards as MISSING TOURNEY CARD and at the end of the day it won't count, but it will be there till bet.
Guess, I'll let it side once per person.

Rule #8 - there is a MONTHLY and OVERALL leaderboard.
SO, that means that we are into February now, so post away till we get a monthly 1, 2, 3, posted up.
Again, the OVERALL is was counts at the end of the tourney.
BUT, with the monthly going too, we can see more fish through out the tourney's time frame.

I'll have the OVERALL leaderboard finished here soon, Janurary's closed and open up for viewing the February's leaderboard up soon, too.
Keep the fish entries coming gents...oh and a little general info...NY state is lacking in the overall Ice Shanty Tournament...stop in and see how our state is doing against the rest of the US states.

Less than a week left, the touney will end after the close of walleye/pike.
I also revised the rules to allow the late night fishermen time to get their last minute entries in.
1) Contest will run from 1/1/14 @ 12:01am to 3/15/14 @ 12:00pm (noon) (in compliant with the close of walleye/pike). I'll give all till noon on the day the walleye/pike season closes for the late night fishermen out there.

In each message is the direct link and image of the badge.
If you have a problem linking your images, try doing a reply to my message, then cut and paste the 2nd link which is the display code for the site.

that's it, you already have your NY location in your profile so you sir will be all set once the big ice shanty starts, if you enter in it, you will be able to post in both tourneys.
