Pretty much turn it on and fish. Recharge battery every time your done with it and unhook battery terminals when your not gonna use it for extended periods. I'd imagine you can get a manual on line or if you contact vexilar they will send you one.

I have never done anything to mine except use it. Just turn it on and go fishing.   Lately my float dont float though.  Not sure what happened, it now is a sinker.   I may give vex a call and see if they will replace it

Just go to lowes or home depot and get a piece of black pipe wrap, foam.it has the slit in it.

I've cleaned the brushes on my old FL8 and sent one in to Vexilar to have it cleaned. Didn't really notice any difference??  Honestly..I wouldn't do anything to it..other than keep battery charged. Don't worry about it unless something goes wrong...which will probably be never.

Let the battery come to room temp before charging it after each use.  If you do that and then put it on the charger 2 times during the off season the battery should last 6 or more years with normal use here in Indiana ice seasons.

Battery maintenance is about it, maybe replace the terminals if they fray.

Bought my Vex Feb. 2002 and this year I finally had to replace the battery, so the original bat lasted 15 years. Don't know what Vexilar uses now but I peeled the Vexilar sticker off and it showed a BB Battery BP7-12(7AH/20hr)

Everyone has their own thing but this is what I do, worked for me. Off months turn it on and drain the battery down completely then charge. Did this 2-3 times during the off season. I never stored it anywhere but inside on top my fridge, never stored it outside or basement.

Use a qtip to clean off the light ring. Its surprising how much dirt gets on it from snow.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.
