I down loaded it and see that the lakes in Wyoming I want to fish don't have topo info.  Anyone have luck with this app?  I'm wondering if it's just my phone, etc.

What other apps do you use instead?

Most of the lakes in WY have never been scanned to map form.  The companies that sell aren’t going to scan the lakes as it would not make them enough money. Only options are a graph that records data and make your own maps on the Indy or through C Map genesis.  What lake are you looking for?

I got the Navionics app this year as well. It shows contour lines for most lakes I’ve looked at but they aren’t very accurate. For some lakes (Hawk Springs) its not even close and pretty much worthless.  Others (Glendo) it shows you an idea of what may be down there but it’s hit and miss in my opinion. I would understand if the depth was consistently off 15’ throughout the lake since it fluctuates so much but that isn’t the case. It may show a point measuring 30 fow that’s actually 16 fow and the next one shows 30 fow and is dry land. . .or 60 fow.  I would say at least on Glendo it helps locate structure but you’ll have no idea what depth it is until you  check it.

I have matched half dozen spots around the gorge and most are with in 6 feet or closer on the depth and some are with in a coupls feet. Any gorge fishermen wish to chime in on their experience?

The big part of any mapping is making sure your using the right elevation for the lake. Easy info to find. Look at the bureau of reclamation for up to date elevation info. After the data is uploaded you need to go back and put the elevation info into the info. Lots of work but worth in the end. I upgraded my graph this winter so I Will be able to record in real time after ice out

I have found that on lakes that get more use, the maps are pretty good.  They came out and used a sounder to map out the lake bottom terrain with detail.  Boysen, the Gorge, Lake Powell are all decent.  I guess it is not worth it for them to survey the less popular lakes (like Fremont, and all the big lakes around Pinedale).  Those maps are useless, show no detail at all.

As Appleye stated, check the current lake level and adjust it on the app to get the most accurate map....
