Just stay away from them, they have boundaries.  I believe east of 2nd aerator in the big lake is tourney free.

200+fisherman west of areater til noon with both parking areas full 1/2 the afternoon according to fishing report crappie & gills hitting next to rushes east of areater   only thing is you shouldn't have to drill any holes in tournament area in the p.m.

Is there a walk-on area east of aerators, on the north side of the lake?

That high school aged kid beat every Iowan that fished last years YBB. 1st-3rd place were out of staters and he took home 4th.

* Yellows this year are big. Lots of 10"+ inch fish out there. Should have some heavy buckets this winter.

Awesome for him, that's very impressive! Someone better step up this year so the first three places don't go to out of staters 😉 I was pretty impressed with the the bait shop. They had a lot of ice fishing gear out already. Seemed like pretty fair prices as well.

Hello all, new to the forum.

I've fished CL but only west of Baptist camp and little lake. Is the East basin any good through the ice? Any aeration on the East side?

Please report if Clear Lake or Little Clear Lake has iced over yet?  I'm sure it won't be long before someone is walking out of McAntosh ...

Clear Lake capped over last night per Clear Lake Bait and Tackle. Follow there Facebook page if you haven't. If the conditions are right I may take a trip up next weekend.

I remember my first trip up last year, it snowed the day before. The snow was wet and slush, drilled a few holes caught one fish. I wish I understood the area better to catch a few with my son.

Any updates on ice condition. I heard the rain and win did a number on what little ice we had out there.  See some cold temps last few days.

Reports from various bait shops in Clear Lake on Facebook say the weather has made the ice on CL unsafe for any sort of travel at this time.  >:(

Kevin Paul posted a video on fb of spud barring around Mccintosh boat ramp yesterday or wednesday....most ice was in decent shape with a few open water or thin ice holes further out...use caution if venturing off the beaten path. They're posting regular updates so follow on fb or give them a call

I was on the little lake today out of Vetura boat ramp. 4 to 5 inches most places, just use a spud bar and watch the frozen bubbles to check ice depth. Quite a few out from Macintosh ramp also.  Slow for most everyone that I talked to. People venturing out from Farmers beach today as well. Still some areas of concern as there is thin ice in pockets and some open water on main lake from the geese and swans. Be careful and good luck! 🐟😊

3-5 inches both places as of Saturday. It's been warm since then so use caution. If you want my opinion, stay safe and wait for better ice, it's freaking scary out there with 1 inch of ice butted up directly to 5".

I made the trip today, I was the only one out there for a couple hours off Macintosh. I am still learning but I talked to several during the day and everyone reported very slow fishing. I did not venture out to far but had 3 - 4" where I drilled. I watched a few guys walk out pretty far on Little Lake.

I normally feel lost on this lake not understanding where to fish, but learning.

Stay shallow for the yellows.
