Saturday's ice conditions and bait
« on: Nov 24, 2018, 10:13 PM »
Lit a cigar, grabbed the spud, and took a ride to check conditions, while considering going out tomorrow. Bait: Morse won't have any for a couple of weeks; Sportsman Taxidermy for a week (heard second hand); LJ has limited shiners. Gould/Emerald pond has about 4" of white ice. Seemed sturdy enough for one, and consistent hole-to-hole. One guy fishing, he had a few perch and pic on the ice. Massasecum is locked with about 2" of clear ice, some open spots up top. Todd had about 4" of white ice (open under the bridge), a couple of sled tracks crossing the lake. Clement had < 1" with open spots, the side opposite the launch may still be open.

Hoping for some more freezing this week to get some fishing locally.

Word is, the Tackle Shack in Newbury is expecting to have shiners for this weekend. Of course, that's no consolation if there isn't enough ice to dunk them. Maybe more reports will be forthcoming by Friday, if any locals chime in.
