Fished Brown County State fishing lake 10 miles east of Hiawatha this afternoon for a couple hrs. Balmy mid 30's and light winds made for very comfortable fishing conditions. Ice measured 8 inches with a few small melting snow drifts scattered about mostly bare slick ice. Easily found fish and caught 25 plus crappies but all but 1 were between 4-8 inches. Only 1 keeper at 10 in. 1 short bluegill and 2 small catfish were also caught. I know there is better fish in there but was hard to get away from the dinks today. Need to spend a whole day drilling holes all over to find the gills and quality crappies I reckon? 2 other guys fishing the dam area but did not get a report from them as I was a ways away.
