Nice vid, they are an awesome fish. Caught a natural my first year of stream trout fishing and even though he was tiny I about lost my mind. Beginners luck x1000.

I have up to a 1000 tiger trout fry along with that many brooks and browns in my basement coldwater recirculating tank at the moment. Came as eggs from a fish hatchery in Utah in early December. If they make it to spring they will go into my outdoor flow through pond that is fed with a well. Never raised tiger trout before.

Here are the latest pics of some of the fingerlings I'm rearing in my basement DIY recirculating system. At this point I can't tell if which ones are brooks, browns, or tigers. Too early I think? Can anyone else tell? They are about 2 inches in length. I think the glass magnifies their size.
Does't it look like one of them is defiantly looking at the camera? Mabye a tiger trout. ;D

Maybe you're referring to the parr marks on their sides? All trout and salmon have them when they are fingerlings. Some trout retain them into adult size.
Defintely not cutts. I'm not allowed to import cutts or cute eggs. Not sure if I could find a source if I wanted to.

Oh I just read up on that and your right I forgot about that. & yeah its hard to tell from the picture what they are.

Using a feed with something called astaxanthin added that brings out the reds and oranges (mimics carotene found naturally in zooplankton and crustaceans). Paprika is supposed to work but haven't tried it.
Some trout and salmon growers use it to make they fillets a deep red as in wild fish. It's actually a health food additive for people so it's harmless.

It has it's pros and cons. Some work, stress, and expense involved but it can be rewarding and I've learned a lot about fish.
And it no longer a hobby. I have $30,000 worth of potential sales swimming around in the pond now.
I have a unique niche market shipping out trophy size yellow perch, bluegill, and trout to fellow taxidermists all over the country whole frozen. They use them for their showrooms, casting replicas, state, national, and world competitions.
Here a brook trout I raised that won a first place national title mounted by a taxidermist in Oklahoma:

I hatch all my own fish now and feed train them which allows for faster larger growth potential on artificial feed. My fish are reared in earthen ponds they rarely have bad fins like raceway fish.

A couple of huge brook trout I raised in the mounting process by an outstanding taxdermist and taxidermy educator in New Hampshire:
When the males get up to 5 lbs. that really build up at spawning time!

I can't remember for sure but I think at least one of them is 6 lbs. 10 oz.
