The man was trying to fetch his dog that broke through,not icefishing but it was a tragic event none the less.Only about 50 yds of shore ice so hope fully that detered anyone from trying to icefish,happened in Niagara Falls not Buffalo.I used to fish lake when I lived there,only carp and a few panfish,also very contaminated although they have stocked some browns in recently.
