Wonder if being a 4 stroke if a person could use it on Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park...currently (i think?) you cant use a two stroke motor in the park...i think all the snowmobiles are 4 strokers...I nominate Bottomdweller and Spudbar to give that thing a "Wyoming" test run...troutsdaddy

So it will run 1 hour under load:o Much longer than I would have guessed from a 1lb.  An hour worth of drilling would probably take me most of the year.....

Although I have a 3hp Tecumseh that has been 5 trouble free years so far.... so unless my motor dies on me I'm gonna pass for now.

Wonder if Jiffy will make the powerhead stand alone?  Would save me $100+/- if I didn't have to buy the bit.

Since it is propane I will let you run it on the show floor at the ice show.

I will take you up on that. Last year Brent Tommerdahl and I did a little messing around with the two stroke units at the ice show. The members wanted to confirm or disprove some of the rumors swirling about. The most prevalent was a whopper about plastic gears in the gear case. It was a very good thing for Jiffy and the members of Iceshanty to replace rumors with facts and digital pictures.

I'm glad the guys from Jiffy posted the truths about their products.  Not very often you will see that from certain companies.  They must stand behind what they offer 100%, that's what people need to see.

Time will tell  if its the whole truth and nuthin but the truth. In about 70 days we should know for sure.

The ship weight (which is different than the actual auger weight) is 38lbs for the 8" and 43lbs for the 10".  They're exactly the same as the STX Pro's.

I've actually had a chance to run one of these augers and they're really cool.  I have one coming for myself.  Unlike a gas auger there is no lag in the power, similar to the electrics, once you press the throttle the shaft starts turning.  I have another sample auger being shipped to me right now and once I get that I'll make a video of all the features and show it running.  The best part for me was that it's easier to start than my gas auger.

I think it sounds cool. But it's still heavy. I  got an IceGator last year and love it. I just wish it wasn't so heavy. I struggle at times to keep it level in my sled.

I was looking at one of these in a store last night. It LOOKS more beefy that the 2 stroke models without so much plastic to break. I searched the engine over for the name of a manufacturer, but I found none. I will make sure to run one of these through the ringer at the Ice Show and give a detailed report.

...Grand Teton National Park...currently (i think?) you cant use a two stroke motor in the park...

you are allowed the use of 2stroke augers; just the snowmobiles are restricted

I purchased one of the new Jiffy augers today. Not quite enough ice up here to try it out yet. I didnt even research it on here to establish all the questions you guys have. I just saw it online and thought it looked cool, tried to explain it to the wife why i spent 500+ on ice fishing stuff was the hard part....Will let you guys know more about it when we can get out on the ice...

ANY UPDATES ON THE JIFFY PROPANE AUGERS?

yes they are awesome, I sold the first 12 of these augers on my order in less than a week and as of today it looks like the backorders are running 3 weeks from what I have been told.

No Gas fumes/ No gas spilled in my sled or on my hands/ starts with one pull and runs like a champ. Totally happy about this new auger and think its going to take a little while for people to accept the idea. But once you try one you will be hooked.
