Osceloa Power Auger
« on: Nov 17, 2004, 03:02 PM »
I have a chance to buy an Osceola Power Equipment Magnum
Plus 49cc, 8" cut power auger. Does anyone have any idea what
it is worth. I have never heard of this brand. The asking price for
it is $150.00.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in davance.

I don't know a gosh darn thing about these things, and I've never heard of this brand. But Osceola means Florida, and the only ice in Florida is the ice floating around in the ice tea of retirees. That said, I'm guessing it's an earth auger. Do yourself a favor and make sure the gearing is at least similar to that of an ice auger, or you may have problems down the road.

I would stick with a name brand over the price. you may be getting something that there are no parts for. Strikemaster, Jiffy, Nils Master depending on where you live and how available parts are for your auger. A small engine place could take care of the engine but what about the transmission or blades or the auger shaft it self.
Please stick with the name brands and you will save money in the long run.

Actually--I have one of those augers and it's been great I don't think the company is in business any more but,I may be wrong. I bought mine for $125.00CAN. about 5-6 yrs. ago. I put in a new plug every year and always use gas stabilizer and it starts 2nd pull every time.(even at -25 or -30 Deg.)
