Humminbird Helix 10

I was thinking about using my Helix 10 for ice fishing (portable and/or fish house) but with more power draw, size and no flasher mode only 2D seems practical, wondering if anyone else is doing it or is this just a bad idea.  I've seen YouTube videos of a couple people doing it.
