Your question is hard to read. Maybe rephrase it. -

It's still a good question, at least for me. When I was shopping for rods and reels they asked what line I'd prefer, the salesman liked mono and the 2 guides shopping for deals liked braid. I decided to go with braid on the 2 rods I picked up.

I jig for pike alot.  My standard is 30# superline. You can choose braid or fused, pretty much the same though I think fused (think FireLine Nanofil) tends to hold ice less. I keep it all on a bass sized baitcaster. Doesn't have to be fancy other than a decent drag it's just a line holder. A super thin uncoated steel leader on the business end and I'm good.

Caught pike to 38", muskies to 44" along with bonus bass and walleye on that setup. Rattlebaits are my number 1 choice with plastic on a jighead @ #2. I tried a Giant Chubby Darter but the rod I've got doesn't handle it well. Heck it's 3 oz. plus...
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!
