Cool,,,thanks for clarifying.  I started thinking,,,, how do u catch anything on an oak leave,,,    Are those the grubs that make the Oak leaves swell up.  I think I've seen bumps on them before but thought nothing of it

im not positive i know you find them in oak leaf piles there a pain to gather and $7 for 2 dozen a little pricey but ive always heard they work great for all kinds of fish from pan to perch to trout but im on a wax worm budget i get 50 for $2

Go to a nearby creek. You can get em free there. They are like giant wax worms only have a darker color. Look for leaves that have holes all over them and you got yourself a good place for oak leave grubs. They eat the leaves and if you see leaves with holes you know they are around. As far as using them they are alright.

The oakleaf grub is really the larval form of the crane fly. We've been using them for years and they are another good bait to take on the ice. We usually try to get them before the small creeks freeze up, like during bow season here in WNY. Or maybe during a warm up after shotgun season. It's a pain to be bustin' ice to look for oakleaf grubs. Now just be careful when using them... THEY BITE!!!!
