Night time jigging
« on: Jan 14, 2017, 07:24 PM »
Just had a few questions for everyone. I now have been on ice at night for three trips in a row. Typically getting set up with an hour left of light and fishing about one hour to two hours at night in dark. Was wondering how many guys/gals do well at night. I have been on lakes with bass, pan fish and trout mainly at night. I have been primarily jigging but a buddy of mine put out tip ups twice. Tip ups have been dead. And only one of three trips have we landed some fish  jigging. Just was wondering if anyone else has had this type of success or lack there of at night. Maybe wrong tactics lanterns too bright etc. Thanks for the advice Tight lines

It helps to be on fish.

They may be locating to shallower locations as night comes on.

Try glow jigs and lures.

Be extremely careful avoiding any noisy action ~ Plant yourself and be still.     ;)2

Good luck

There are times where bright lanterns will attract fish and other times where it turns them off.

Some lakes the fish will move out to deep water holes, others they go shallow.

If I night fish I usually plan to settle on a hump or point.
